Story
As a professional thief, Esme Bellerose's daylong job interview was going well: She'd come through most of it with only a black eye, bloody lip, broken wrist, a few cracked ribs, and talon marks from a ruby-throated dragon - but at least she wasn't missing any pieces. And if she could only survive until the five o'clock hour, she'd land the job that was every mystic thief's dream: employment at SPL Inc. But the head of SPL, Elric Ostergaard, has other plans, and he's put one additional task on Esme's job application, which must be completed before he'll hire her.

This series still reminds me of a Scooby-doo episode. I enjoyed it - entertained all the way through. Though Gilly gets on my nerves - not really sure why they bring him on their trips when he tends to cause more problems then he solves.

Best ghost hunter out there
If you could sum up Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls in three words, what would they be?
spooky castle, treasure
Who was your favorite character and why?
I would say Gilly, his off the cuff remarks to MJ most of the time have me cracking up.
What does Eileen Stevens bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
gives each of the characters life
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes, I found my self wanting to listen to this book during any free time that I had and finished it quickly only to dowload the next one in the series and listen to that one too.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend that you check out the previous titles in this series. Not because they aren't stand alone books all by themselves but the other books are also really good and you get a little bit more back ground on the characters.

I didn't pick out the bad guy and was surprised...
This was another good story and the ending was a pleasant surprise. Usually I figure them out ahead of time.
Uh oh. I just realized I left the comment about the messy kitchen on the wrong review. It's supposed to be on this one. Okay, well here is my pet peeve. The kitchen seemed WAY too messy in the description after their chase through the kitchen at the Inn. Food dripping from the ceiling? Really? It just didn't seem realistic to me. Of course, maybe I'm neat in my chase scenes through a kitchen.
The accidents that kept happening with people around M.J. also seemed extreme, but I've never been on a ghost hunt or had a demon chase after me, so I could be wrong.
Other than those pet peeve comments, I enjoyed the story overall. The ghosts at the castle were a good part of the story at the end.
Gilly remained a bit of a fingernail on the chalkboard sensation at times. Like when he raced ahead on the causeway and fell.... uh, okay. But his dropping something important and then being forgiven so readily? Or easily?
The stories are a good read and are definitely something I've enjoyed throughout the whole series. They're probably good for teenagers too, but not for younger children.

Just wanted to get to the end of the book. Now I know why the series ended. It had such a great start. But characters are so annoying now I want nothing more to do with with the author, her style is just not for me. I feel bad giving a negative review like this. So sad.

Next to impossible to put down
I enjoyed the fifth entry in the MJ Holliday, Gilley Gillespie, and Heath Whitefeather “Ghoul Getters” television series very much. I loved the way author Victoria Laurie twisted several storylines together coming up with a cohesive story, sort of like a braid of hair. MJ and Heath are psychic mediums, and Gilley is a tech wizard. They help people with ghost, phantom, demon, and all matters of paranormal creatures and problems.
Finding hidden treasure prompts a new episode of their TV show at the haunted ruins of Dunlow Castle in Ireland. There are multiple ghosts at the castle, all of whom were scared by an onsite phantom released from his talisman by gold hunters. It sounded like he was the worst "ghoul" MJ, Gilley, and Heath had encountered. Rumor has it that the man who built the castle hid booty of gold somewhere within the vast rooms and crypts. The castle was high on a bluff so there were several ghosts there because they fell off the cliffs. One in particular held the secret to accessing the phantom and therefore the gold. Producer of the show, Gopher, disappears in the castle and cannot be found there or on the rocks below; MJ and Heath cannot feel his spirit, which hopefully means he has not died. Without Gopher leading production of "Ghoul Getters" and sending footage off to the big wigs that control the show, they decide to cancel the show and fire everyone.
Now the ghost busting team must find a way to make the phantom disappear, help any ghosts that want to cross over, find Gopher, get the show renewed or find a new home for it, all while suffering falls and wounds and Gilley eating every piece of food in site. It's amazing how Victoria Laurie can mix together storylines like that! Somehow they get the jobs done.
Hearing all this turmoil on audio truly brings it to life. One ghost in particular stands high on the bluff shouting his true love’s name. Over and over again, loud and persistent. This ghost is not old, and his true love is alive and waiting for the team to free her love so he can stop suffering. With the expert writing skill of the author and the skill narrating so many voices added to the images in your own imagination, the characters are practically sitting next to you. They come to life around you. It is magic and so much fun yet filled with terror. It was extremely difficult to put this book down, leaving everyone waiting for your return to continue the stories brought forth in one book.
This entry can easily stand on its own but is so much richer and scarier knowing the characters and watching them grow. Awesome!
