Publisher's summary

From the author who brought you the best-selling book everyone is talking about, The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k: The no-f**ks-given, no-holds-barred guide to living your best life.

Ever find yourself snowed under at the office - or even just glued to the sofa - when you really want to get out (for once), get to the gym (at last), and get started on that daunting dream project you're always putting off? Then it's time to get your sh*t together.

In The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k, 'anti-guru' Sarah Knight introduced the joys of mental decluttering. Get Your Sh*t Together takes you one stop further - organizing the f*cks you want and need to give to help you quit your day job and move abroad, balance work and fun - and save money while you're at it - or simply get out of the door for happy hour every day.

Very basic

Should be called "time management for dummies" I got to chapter 6 and couldn't stand to listen to anymore of this. When people have nothing to say they swear - and there's lots of swearing for impact in this book.
Terrible anecdotes and such basic advice for complete dummies.
Stay away if your a grown up.

Not accessible, geared for certain audiences

I have to say I struggled to listen to this. Sarah Knight obviously comes from a very privileged background and gears her rhetoric to certain socio-economic classes. While at times she attempts humour, it falls a little flat as it sounds like she's trying too hard.

That being said, some of the advice is useful such as time management and prioritizing - however this sounds like a lot of other self help books and she doesn't seem like the 'anti-guru' she claims to be. It's a little pretentious, constantly talking about her Caribbean housing, when many don't even have disposable income.

She briefly mentions half way through that this book is not intended for such working-class people. That should have been at the front of the book.

Worst thing You could possibly listen to on Audible

Apart of Sarah Knight's voice and 3 pages worth of some reasonable advise on how to get all aspects of your life together, the whole book is battered on countless swearing, ridiculous analogies, and Alvin and the chipmunks comparisons, to the point of making it the most unbearable book to listen to out of the hundreds I have on Audible... if you want to get the value of her thoughts watch the Ted talk, but suffering finishing this book is not worthwhile.

Same as others, way too simple and daft

Did not like silly analogies and yes she says she swears but for no decent reason, great for her living in the Caribbean, making money for old rope off people that deserve more than this is clearly her goal. Way more out there that is inspiring than this low drivel.

Disappointing

The book really doesn't contain much more than the title. Even though the author reads it in an entertaining way, I can't get over the fact that she's just waxing on about how she hated her previous life and changed everything, reassuring the listener that she's aware there are parents and other people in different situations, and then in different ways say "oh just get your shit together and change it". The only substantial thing I got from 3h of listening was that focusing on the negatives (the start) is better than focusing on the positives (the goal). The rest seemed like a very long blurby advertisement of this and her first book. Maybe it gets to the good stuff in the last 1/3? I wouldn't know. I was determined to at least finish it, but couldn't bring myself to after so much waffling. Funny waffling with expletives maybe, but ultimately waffling.

Relateable but gives you nothing

There are some great examples in this book, but that’s it! Not worth the read / listen

Very thought provoking, helpful book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I struggle with over thinking everything and finding big tasks hard to comprehend but his book constantly re-iterates small manageable chunks and ways to do it. I really enjoyed listening to this book and some points that I will genuinely use in life.

What other book might you compare Get Your Sh*t Together to, and why?

The happiness project- another 'self help' book that genuinely makes you think and make small changes.

Which character – as performed by Sarah Knight – was your favourite?

N/a

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I really struggled to turn it off although it is easy to drop in and out as there isn't a narrative

Better than the other book.

This book has a little more to offer if you want some tools that extend past the common sense ideas of the Magical Art of Not Giving a Fuck (which has its place).

I like the authors approach here. It's basic, can be applied easily and without much effort.

Probably the best Narration by an author I've come across too.

Eh

I was not expecting the repetative fatphobia...not every fat person wants to lose weight. “Fat” is a describing word, not another word for “lazy”. Don’t read this book if you struggle with debilitating mental illness- especially if shame and negativity is something you struggle with.

Love Love Love

Sarah nails it when it come to the way it is. Smiling, laughing and "ah-ha-ring" with your headset in walking through the supermarket may get you looks but you want to say "you should listen to this" to passing strangers.

So glad I listened to Sara with her quirky, down to earth method of writing. Definitely relatable!

Onto her next book now!

Not all that different to other self help books

Some good advice but mostly common sense strategies found in other self help books or blogs. The humour often seemed forced, pretentious and a bit tacky

Shitty

Annoying narration. Weird references, a lot of repeating the same things, sooo much filler. Redundant rhetoric. If you're expecting a revelation, look elsewhere.

Millennial Fluff

If you were born before the 80's or just want something with authentic, science-backed, well-proven, intelligent advice, then I would suggest you look elsewhere. I don't care if a book has bad language if it has quality content that's helpful. This doesn't. The plethora of cussing in this book doesn't add value or humour like some titles do, but dilutes the quality and is simply trite. In my opinion, it's just used as a marketing tool to appeal to millennials. The first 60 minutes is filled with too many personal anecdotes and word padding. I could have more emphatically and clearly presented her first hour of waffle in less than 5 minutes. I was begging for her to just get to the point.

One can't help but think that the author is just spinning out superficial titles to try and fund her freelance move to the Caribbean.

I'm returning this title and going for tried and true authors.

I got my stuff together!

I absolutely loved this book. Sarah is hilarious and down to earth - I love her no-nonsense attitude!
I've used loads of the ideas within already and I already feel like I've got at least some of my stuff together. For example- I did my tax return already! I usually scrape in the week before you're no longer allowed to do it and you get in big trouble. I've created a 'coloring in for grown ups' savings plan so we can go to Europe
next year. I've made some big goals as a result of asking 'what's wrong with my life?' and am starting on sorting these out right away.
I'm going to buy the other book about not giving a hoot next.

An upbeat listen with some great tips

Overall a good listen even if there was one or two too many profanities for my liking. This is clearly the authors 'trademark'. High level advice with some practical tips that are spot on.
