Publisher's Summary

“Now, there was nothing holding me back. I kissed her deeply, passionately. Kissed her for every time I’d wanted to and couldn’t. For every time I’d stared at her with longing in my heart, wishing we could be where we were now.”

It’s never too late.

Loving a woman you can’t have isn’t easy. Ben Gaines knows this all too well. He endured the slow torture of watching Shannon Miles live a life with another man - a man who didn’t deserve her - but he doesn’t regret a minute of it. And he has his reasons.

Now, she’s free. No longer shackled to a loveless marriage, bound to someone who was unfaithful and heartless.

But Shannon thinks her time has passed; that she won’t get another chance at love, especially with Ben. The man who’s been there to see it all. Her mistakes. Her hurt. Her heartache.

If only she knew. Ben loves her with everything he is, and he wants nothing more in life than to spend every moment with her. After all, he’s waited a long time for his chance.

It’s time for their happily ever after.

Author’s note: A sexy silver fox who’s waited half his life for the woman he loves. A peek into the past. And the happily ever after you’ve been waiting for. Finally.

The Miles Family is best enjoyed in order.

Ben and Shannon at last!

Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 3.5-4 stars

Finally Ben and Shannon's story! This little novella was the perfect way to close the Miles Family series. I have been waiting for these two to get their HEA from the start and John Lane and Donna Postel were fantastically cast. John Lane was especially wonderful and his deep gravelly voice was so perfect as steadfast and loyal Ben. This is my first time hearing Donna Postel, but I was very pleasantly surprised. There isn't a whole lot of angst or drama in this one and I was grateful for that. These two have waited long enough, so I was happy that things moved steadily (and quickly) along. The bonus epilogue from Grace's POV was the cherry on top and I loved getting the updates on all the Miles siblings. Cooper's cameos are always memorable (double LOL) and I was excited to meet the Bailey brothers, which is Claire Kingsley's upcoming new series. What a beautiful end to a wonderful series!

Perfect!

What a beautiful and poignant ending to the Miles family series.
Each book in the series has become so much more and Claire Kingsley’s superb story telling culminated in this amazing second chance story, that was in making for over 25 years. Learning about Ben’s heartbreak brought me to tears; and seeing him finally finding his forever with Shannon, having support of ALL the children as he decided to make his move, and sealing the deal oh his very first date with Shannon was the absolute BEST!
John Lane and Donna Postel were absolutely phenomenal, their performance brought the story alive in the best possible way!

Bittersweet

I wanted it, but I didn’t want it. I knew going in that this was the last in the series, and I wasn’t ready for it to end. I think the way she wrote it in a novella format was a great decision. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect ending. I have a massive book hangover. I feel like I know the Miles family personally. Like maybe I live in Echo Creek and run into them at the coffee shop. That’s just the brilliance of Claire’s writing. I miss already, but I will revisit them from time to time. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I would definitely recommend this book.
This was a re-read for me. The narrators were great choices. I see myself listening again.

Love it, but would've liked a longer book

Love that Shannon had a happy ever after, and loved that it included Grace's epilogue, but really wished the book was longer. Story felt a little rushed.

Perfect finale to a wonderful series!

I loved this so much. Shannon deserved her HEA and there was no one more perfect for her than Ben. This was short and sweet and the narrators were wonderful. I definitely recommend this book and series!

Such a great series

Wow…. I loved this series so much!! What a great find!! I loved that Ben and Shannon’s book was last. It showed over the whole series how much they cared for each other and that you can love again after so much heartbreak!!
Now it looks like I’m on to start The Baileys Brothers series!! 💕

Shannon and Ben

The perfect ending to the Miles Series. Shannon and Ben his unrequited love of a woman for the past 26 years, that belonged to a Cheating Husband who had betrayed and treated his family like shit, while he was the man in her children's lives that taught them respect and was there for the kids when their own father wasn't. Aftter losing his own wife and child many years ago, this family and Cooper were what saved him. Now the woman he has loved for years is free and he wasn't waiting any longer, he just had to get out of the friend zone. I'm sorry to see their story end, but I know that the story continues in the Bailey Family Series starting with Grace and Asher.

A wonderful ending to a great series

Ben has been an employee of the Miles family winery for years and he's also had feelings for Shannon for a long time. I have loved both of them throughout the series. Shannon has been a wonderful mother as all her kids found love. After everything she went through with her ex-husband I was so happy she and Ben got their HEA.

I have loved reading the Miles family series and am sad to see it end, but this novella was the perfect way to wrap it up. It was sweet, fun, funny, and well narrated. I highly recommend picking up this whole series on audio!

Slow burn of epic proportions

I’m not real sure if the final book of the Miles family was supposed to be the one I found the best & sexiest…but mission accomplished. There’s just something about how Ben was so patient and so respectful and just so absolutely perfect for Shannon. And so perfect for the Miles family as a whole. He had loved them and supported them their whole lives. He said it best when he said that they were his kids. They saw him as more of a father than they did Lawrence. It was only natural that he finally got the woman he had loved from afar for so long.

John Lane was *chef’s kiss* perfect!! I could listen to him narrate more. Donna Postel was perfect for Shannon, she just has that motherly feel to her voice.

Awesome!

I’m so glad that Ben and Shannon got a story. Well I guess their story has been building through the whole series. It’s nice to see them together. I loved the bonus epilogue at the end. Hearing more of each couples lives was great. And getting a peek into Grace buying the house for her and Asher was sweet.

Wonderful ending to the series

Ben has worked at the vineyard for many years and loved the family as his own. Shannon is keeping strong after the turmoil the family has been through with her ex husband.
Ben believes in the right time for everything, is it their time?
What a wonderful ending to this series.

Beautiful ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

These two beautiful characters definitely deserve their happiness. They have been so much together and been each other’s rock . To see them together at last having their own happy ever after is perfect. John and Donna did a beautiful job bringing this story to life . 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Dissatisfied with the final book of the season.

I was just covering a long narration but it was very short. The narrators also made it too quick while reading it, there was more need to pause and build suspense, passion. Unfortunately my least favourite book on the Miles collection 😪

Amazing series

The only thing I didn’t like about the last book was that isn’t wasn’t long enough, I just wanted more, I didn’t want this series to end. Highly recommend. I will no doubt listen to it again.
