Surprisingly quality material

I planned to only sample this book; however, as I listened, I was drawn to learn more about the characters, all of which were well-defined. It is so hard to find quality books, since so many authors are producing "books" by the month. To which the reader is well-aware it probably took only a month to write the book. But it seemed like this book was contemplated with care. Not only that, after listening, I saw that there were four books (at least) in this series; however, with this being book 1, I didn't feel like the author was trying to "lure" me to want to know more about the secondary characters, or flying any literary banner that said "Wait for Book 2 to learn more about this character." I'm surprised by authors who spend more time in a Book 1 defining other characters and abandoning their main characters and the storyline. I thought that Devney Perry did a good job of keeping the focus on Thea and Logan and Charlie. The only thing I would have chopped from this book is the erotica. It was too much, and a good, quality book doesn't need erotica to sell. Sometimes a book is better if those parts are left to the reader's imagination. We don't need to be spoon-fed sex...we have minds of our own. That said, authors, if you are going to have a sizeable amount of erotica, please ensure that your books are listed under Erotica and not Literary Fiction...there's a sizeable difference in the material. Erotica is overrated and unrealistic. I'll take genuine characters and realistic love over an erotica author's fantasies... In sum, I was indeed surprised that I enjoyed these characters. And normally I don't listen to Maxine Mitchell material, but she seemed more subdued for this narration and that was a good thing. It made Thea more credible as a character. Aaron Shedlock nailed his part as well.

Life can be full of surprises!

What a great start to this new Lark Cove series! Tattered, book one, had my attention right from the beginning and all the way to the end.
A one night of passion for Thea and Logan with no last names exchanged was a night neither of them would forget. They came from different backgrounds and lifestyles and went their separate ways but fate had other plans. Five years later they are back into each other’s worlds and Logan is definitely in for a surprise. What I loved the most about him is that he stepped right up and embraced fatherhood and be the dad Charlie always deserved. It may have taken him a while to realize what Thea and Charlie both needed and it wasn’t all his riches. They just wanted him and to enjoy life in Lark Cove together.
I had the added benefit of listening to the audio version of this story and the narrators definitely added to my enjoyment of this book!

great story. I just love maxine mitchell. I can imagine being an orphan and revisit your old home. I'm sure it's very hard. keep these lovely stories coming.

Sweet

A heartfelt and heartwarming second chance romance. Logan, Thea and Charlie are so adorable together. I loved how Logan just stepped right up to be a dad. It may have taken a little while for this family to be together but when everything fell into place it was perfectly sweet. I enjoyed this story.
