Publisher's summary

We join Montana, recently returned from an impromptu study abroad trip, a bit wiser, a bit broader in perspective, and a lot freaked out by the once-dead person who's currently in his bedroom.

Possible zombie sightings aside, he's finally ready to take his job as Duke seriously. And just in time too - not only are the politics of the capital rapidly closing in on Montana's little valley holding, but there are also goblins to negotiate with. Plus, that cult threatening to take the lives of his citizens.

Montana will have to pull off the impossible - walk amongst the highest levels of Vuldranni society to influence world politics, and slaughter a few goblins in the process.

I hate this author. His books are good

I absolutely hate this author seriously this book almost feels like a waste of a credit. I’m finished in under 20 hours easy every single time I start one of these. He is a fantastic novelist. I’d say his series is a true 5 star series. I’ve listened multiple times and I’m still excited every time I listen.if he has a job out side of writing I hope he gets fired and has to start writing full time because I’m really annoyed at how quick his books go by then have to wait months for a sequel.

Seriously though listen to the series if you haven’t yet. This is one of the best in it and I can’t wait to have some of the leveling stuff explained.

Fantastic!

Another fantastic book in the series! Neil does a great job with all the voices, its just so good.
Eric Ugland isone of a very very few authors that I instantly buy, even if I'm already reading another book, you just can't go wrong with his books.

stupid as all hell. worst one.

The guy threatens his "family" , and says "good luck finding mine" and the moron doesn't use his ability to make anyone awnser any question honestly.. dumb

Then the author forces us to sit there and watch the MC's friend die, for... what? This is supposed to be a nice, violent fantasy, where, at the very least, we get our rage feuled slaughter. That scene was lame.

Then the idiot doesn't remember a god danm child eater.. He is annoyingly stupid. There is not an ounce of anything "endearing" about it.

Surrendering.

Not manna bombing the draining guy.

Hardly any progression

Hardly any progression. If you want to read about a long simple plotted quest, that you can guess the outcome in 2 minutes of reading, go for it. Few things happen. A recap in the next book will cover everything that was important in a paragraph. Yep, the whole 8 hours can litteraly be summed up in a one paragraph and thats the advancement of your story.
So the only real reason to get this book is if your out of stuff to listen too.
A light book that maintains some of the humor from previous books for a bland side quest.

Fantastic Unwitty humor and lots of action

I continue to enjoy Montana's adventures. His wonderful back and forth with different characters regularly makes me truly laugh out loud. His continued inability to avoid covered in gore and the repeated recommendations that he take a bath are great and continue to amuse me. The story line is fun and the author keeps the game notifications to a minimum to keep the theme, but not bog down the story. While I have enjoyed the great dives into game world mechanics of other series, I am also enjoying Montana's willful disregard of learning details of alchemy, mining, smithing, etc. Instead he just ends up in the action killing things in the most messy ways possible. This is a nice tank and spank version of a LitRPG novel and the whole series is worth a listen.

Amazing series

My only complaint about the series is that the books are not longer. I don’t write reviews but had to for this. So much fun and absolutely hilarious.

Better than the last

This was a much more enjoyable story than the previous one and well in line with the other great stories in the series. Looking forward to the next one.

By far the worst book in the series

This is a bad book, if you like other books in the series skip this one. About 2/3rds of this book is the main character wandering around having random scenes with minor characters while he carries the Idiot Ball. Even though Montana is dumber than most people he runs into in this book he is much, much worse. But in this book, there is more, he hands the Idiot Ball off to almost everyone he comes in contact with. The whole book becomes a Three's Company episode without the good-natured charm. Characters who should know better don't tell people they have close contact with IMPORTANT INFORMATION that could have saved their life and the city.
It is almost like this book is half or more made up of scenes that were cut from other books and dropped in here to hit a deadline. Another LitRPG series just had a book like this. It was basically parts of short stories crammed together in a vain attempt to make a book.
As for the performance, Neil Hellegers gives it his best but a few times he forgets to switch voices. Obviously not completely his fault as the producer or sound person should have caught these instances.

Love this Genre

Love this Genre. I find it very easy and amusing to listen too. Story is good, but might be simple to some. Love the narrator too.

Both the Good and the Bad Guys - Great stories

This is a series in 2 parts, the so called Good Guys and the so called Bad Guys.

As a series this is highly compelling and engaging, the stories are wonderful and the reader helps create a great experience.

Really looking forward to where this goes and supporting both author and reader.

As always the only complaint is it is to short.

Love the series. Can’t wait for the next one. I wish these Audio books were long though. Many Audio books are 20+hours, its disappointing that we pay the same price for the 9 hour ones.
