An endless night, full of hungry shadows.

The most dangerous night of the year is upon Coggeshall. Fiends' Night, when the boundary between Vuldranni and hell is the weakest.

And so hell comes out to play.

To survive the night, Montana must put his entire holding on lockdown and turn hastily made cave apartments into an actual, inviting home for thousands of Coggeshall residents. Most of whom don't really know or like each other. And all of whom have different ideas of what needs to be done on Fiends' Night.

So, intent on becoming the duke his people deserve, Montana spends the night flitting about Imperial balls, handing out gifts to children, squeezing through kobold tunnels, and building with the dwarves. It's his hand-shaking, baby-kissing time to shine.

Oh, except that The Master he just took care of in Osterstadt? That was the wrong one.

The real Master is hiding in Coggeshall, and Montana has to catch him before the entire holding becomes his dinner.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Beat the grind and submerse yourself in these addictive LitRPGs.

Eric Ugland crafts another entertaining addition to the series and while there was some movement in the story, it also had a filler-novel quality to it. There were loses of comrades, defeat of a major enemy and the introduction of another significant enemy and faction that materializes late in the book. This late introduction limited the time to gain much backstory or battling exposure. Also, the "Love" part of the title was misleading in that it hadn't bloomed with Montana and with others it wasn't clear if it was love or just a lustful relationship.

Still, I enjoyed the novel and look forward to the next book in the series.

Neil Hellegers' performance was as flawless as I've come to expect.

Lost some of its verve

Eric Ugland treats Montana like a combination of Stretch Armstrong and Slime. I’ve never seen an MC shit on so often and so literally and I love it. He always comes out on top covered in nasty. I also love the fast-paced, non-stop snark read by Neil Hellegers. These are the best kinds of books. Pure fun, beginning to end.

Every time I finish a book in this series I'm like "Damn It, Now I have to wait for the next one!"

More. Please!

The Master is in Montana’s duchy and he has to figure out how to expose him. And while he’s at it, it’s the night of the year when all the demons come calling. Lots of tension, lots of fighting, and frankly, an important moment of character growth.

This story is also useful for reminding us of the seemingly dozens of groups of people that Montana has invited into his duchy. Most of them don’t like or trust each other, but somehow he keeps making it all work.

This one has a very solid ending.

The Adventure Continues

With how heavily it’s been foreshadowed and set up, the confrontation at the end of the book ends very quickly and in a very lackluster way. I get the author was trying to encourage the main character asking for help and the like, but that doesn’t mean nether rewarding him nor making the final fight against this big bad guy who took away multiple people in the main cast is a good move. Rather, it sort of left a bad taste in my mouth. It was otherwise fairly good, although much of the book felt very meandering and like little was actually accomplished compared to past books (in terms of character growth and progression)

It was a good addition to the series though, and I enjoyed it for the most part

Mostly good but ending was sort of terrible

Halloween meets New Years, and you get Fiends Night, and it is the longest night of the year. Montana has to keep his people safe yet again, but this time from demon-like creatures.

They are fiends not friends

I read the first book on a whim…now, this is one of my most favorite book series based not only on the excellent & imaginative content by Eric Ugland, but the terrific narration by Neil Helligers. He absolutely makes the characters come alive. My only complaint is that these books are over way too soon!

Can’t wait for the next in the series!

I absolutely love these books and honestly have missed Montana. Clyde is wonderful but also different. It was good to return. I suspect many will have this same opinion but it was too short. Montana had so many moments that I loved the entire book. It just wasn't enough and who knows how long before another. I understand it's either short book and short wait or long book and long wait but can we get somewhere in between Eric?

In the last few chapters Neil (who is a freaking God level narrator) makes a few mistakes an editor should've caught. Prinkies Neil says pinkies. Then he says xp recovering fast enough when he clearly meant hp. Buddy I know it's minor but if my entire job as an editor is to make sure that mistakes don't make it into a finished product and they do, I should be fired. I'd be happy to edit your books for ya. Your current guy is a slacker. Anyways. Love love love it but now I'm upset it's over.

Finally!
