Dissapointing and Annoying ending :/

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

no not alone, the ending is just to bad and removes the main drag of the serie...

Would you be willing to try another book from John Conroe? Why or why not?

yes, because all the other books in the serie was awesome up to this point

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

if it was part of the rest of the serie properly... depend how the next book is, if it follows the bad of this book instead of bringing the good back i wouldnt.

Any additional comments?

I’ve loved the series all up to the end of this book… which just seems too stupid to believe -.-

They basically destroy the majority of what we have learned about the main character, destroying all the abilities we seen him gain, removing all the skills, intelligence and even the reactionary pattern of him doesn’t make sense to the rest of the books and up to this point.
It truly just destroys the Charm and awesome feeling of the main char being Super overpowered and send him back to being nothing more than a basic supernatural power… it is really damn sad……

Not sure why the author decided to suddenly go the direct opposite routed of the rest of the books….

Anyway the rest of the serie before this was awesome, this book was good besides the personality changes of his “bad side”, and the ending “makeup” with the usa. Which was both just stupid and silly

SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!! SPOILER!!!!!!!!!

I mean seriously, knocked out by gas?? His immune to sicknesses, he can only be poisoned by uranium, he can heal half his head in mili-seconds (but apparently the healing ignores the effect of gas ehem -.-) and even uranium have minor effect on him, and the speed gas would flow in would be snail slow compared to the speed of the main char….
Also his bad side refusing to kill now when there is direct danger, even though we know from earlier books it learned that holding back will get it killed -.- so makes no sense….
Seriously it’s the “be weak and useless because I need it for the plot” setup which was just beyond stupid :(

A great story that keeps you interested

Would you consider the audio edition of Forced Ascent to be better than the print version?

I only have time for audio, truck driver with 8 hours aday driving. Love audio books and this series is great

What other book might you compare Forced Ascent to and why?

Love the whole series, this one is sort of stand alone with the many different characters and each has a role to play.

Which scene was your favorite?

Well the part where they save the hostages, and hand out some revenge

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

not sure this is a good title of the book

Any additional comments?

Look forward to reading all the rest and hope that Mr Conroe will keep writing them. Look forward the next ones

My least favorite so far

This is my least favorite so far, it went off the deep end for me. There were a couple points where I almost returned it. I am hopeful the next book gets back on track.

Think I'm done with this series,

This is more of a personal preference but I don't like series with multiple MC, especially in shorter books like this. In the future books it looks like that is what is to come.

Minor Spoilers,

With that said another main reason is the lack of depth in the actual relationship building between characters. The lack of respect shown towards some and frankly the lack of vision between the MC, Vampire and Shewolf. All share a bond forged in blood and the Shewolf is kept on the outside and disrespected. The Vampire is the only one ever birthed and nobody knows if she will be able to give birth. The Shewolf on the other hand has a short life incompariosn, fertile and because of the MC's blood her DNA has been altered as the MC's was. Given all that, where the MC and the Vampire most likely won't be able to have a family would it not be smart to bring the Shewolf into the relationship to form that family? Additionally the same reason behind the changes to all 3 characters, a line of pups might be highly advanced. This might make a difference generation down the road where those advance abilities might be needed. My issue really is in the lack of conversation between the 3 and how the Shewolf is disrespected by all for the feelings she has for the MC.

The whole memory lost was lazy writing to skip writing about the dynamics of the bonds of the blooded 3. I enjoy reading about the building, development and the conflict an unorthodox relationship brings. In an earlier book 7 months was skipped where it was early in the relationship of the MC and :Vampire. Honestly I would have preferred reading about that 7 months other then the new MC. Those are the building blocks of the relationship and directly impacts the future. By skipping that and other critical moments we never are as connected to the characters as we should be. It so sad because this has the bones to be a great series but instead it's just ok which is causing me not to finish the series. Perhaps in the future books things I talked about will be addressed but as I was scanning it looks like the 3 is split into two 2's which only highlights what I've said in this review.

Least favorite in the series

I love this series overall. But this book is too anti science and very preachy. It gets better with the rest of the series.

Chris goes head to head with the government

I continue to enjoy journeying along with Chris Gordon on his trek of discovering what new powers he manifests as he continues to fight all the various powers of evil. James Patrick Cronin continues to do a phenomenal job of narrating this story. This is the sixth book in the urban fantasy Demon Accord series. I especially love that Christian’s character, despite his unique overwhelming powers, is still sweet, a bit naive, and modest which makes him a very likable hero. Chris is a demon fighter. Due to the unique abilities he was born with, he can see demons, remove them from their host or location, and banish them back to hell. He also has been infected with the virus that causes vampires and weres to exist but he’s neither a vampire nor a were. His girlfriend is the strongest and most revered vampire in the world. In this book Chris and his merry band are on a collision course with the government which wants to control him. Chris will be forced to step out of the shadows to deal with the latest threats. The book has the same main characters from the other books with some new characters added into the mix. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. Like the other books, every time Chris is confronted with a new threat, he develops a new or stronger power and kills them in 3 seconds. Despite knowing this, it does not change the enjoyment of the story. I will definitely keep reading the series.

really?

I started really liking the series, until.
1.declan arrived.
2.that all the plots are the same, uncle sam calls, they come running to help like a good little American, then get shat on by the government.
that's it. it becomes so anoying, they do good, fighting evil. but come running back to the most evil thing of all the American government.
stupid, unrealistic and really really annoying.
the narration was excellent.
should have been an excellent series but the blind faith and attitude of the us gov makes it ridiculous and annoying.

good continuation marred by disatisfaction

fantastic performance as ever from the narrator. the plot bounces alonf fantastically, building through several climaxes and feels like it should have ended after the Washington fight.

however it gets stretched out at the end for a few more chapters which feel unnecessary and undermine the flow. it then starts to build towards a showdown that then doesnt happen and the characters get flung out leaving a sense of unresolved frustration..reading / listening to it left me feeling disatisfied. the book ties off but there was no catharsis or cumuppance and it feels jarring after a fantastic overall story.

loved it but this feels almost like a point where im uncertain about continuing the story. the characters are great but in starting to dislike tanya and warming a lot more to stacia. chris feels too reactive, too much like a tool of those around him despite his frustration with a nigh omniscient government that never seems to suffer any consequences.

by the end i just wanted the president to fet a decent scare, for his advisors to suffer actual consequence which the book hints towards but doesnt deliver on.

overall a good book but should have tied off a few chapters earlier

Damn good book

James Patrick Cronin does a fantastic job narrating this whole series. It is easily the best paranormal adventure romance series available. I own all of the series and to date of my review is 20. The books have strong characters with love adventure romance and worthy villains. All types of my favourite types of paranormals are here. It is a smorgasbord of awesome. I know there are lots of books in the series and not one is a dud. They are all long enough to really give you everything you want in a book. I can't recommend them enough.
