Demon Accords, number 17.

Chris Gordon and Tanya Demidova are the world's top close quarters battle experts. As fast and powerful as elder vampires, with supernatural weapons that match their supernatural speed, strength, and senses. But how does a close quarters warrior fight an enemy that is literally light years away - 25,000 light years away?

It would take one hell of a ranged weapon, something that can cross unimaginable distances with unfathomable power. Something...or...someone. Hmm, but witch is best?

I love this series, I really do, but......this book was boring!!!! This should have been an optional story like a Book 6.5 or such. I love the characters but they need a worthy foe. Our favorite warlock has reached a level of godlike power, which is cool. Chris is simply amazing and my favorite character, as always, but they are wasted if they don't have a true struggle that test thier abilities. An invading force can be annihilated with a thought and, if not magiked away, Chris can chop them up pretty nicely. The next villain needs to be truly impressive as well as charismatic! Every personality in this book seemed very bland in comparison to previous installments of the series and I think that is because in those stories the characters were pushed to limit. I will define reading the next installment, but if that story lacks a villain that exceeds the heroes, then I'll be very disappointed.

Thor needs Loki. Batman needs the monsters of Gotham. Harry Dresden needs evil gods/fallen angels. heroes need villain that challenge and push them.

Lackluster

If you are here, then you found the first 16 books to be at least enjoyable. This book hits all the same notes. My main issue with this book, is the same issue I have with the whole series, I never really feal that the main characters are ever in any real jeopardy, and they all feel stupidly over powered. But dialog remains fun and easy to listen to.

Its Book 17 - If you like 1-16 You'll enjoy this

If you love Urban Fantasy this would be a top Series to add to your list. Fun Story line that seems to include all things fantasy and some sci fi that is blended into this enjoyable series. James Patrick Cronin will grow on you, and soon you will appreciate his Narration.

I just enjoy this series,

My only complaint is that it had to end! This book kind of like all the others in the series, is so much fun!

Well Written and Fun!

I agree with other reviewers that all this Declan-worship is getting old; it's so over-the-top that it's just bad writing. Still, it was an entertaining story.

Here's something that I've been wondering since the first book: Does the author get product-placement fees from equipment manufacturers? The author always insists on using brand names and model numbers when describing weaponry or survival gear.

Yes, too much fawning over Declan

It is always fun and exciting to visit the world where Chris Gordon, Tanya Demidova, Declan O’Carroll and Stacia Reynolds live. Each book in the series continues to be engaging and the storylines continue to be fresh. This book is from Chris’ point of view but is more focused on Declan’s actions and power. Chris is almost the observer/narrator. The storyline continues about the attacks/invasion from Vorsook against earth. Again there is the continuing story arc about the public opinion about our heroes, the twins, and the various supernatural powers. This is the 17th book in the urban fantasy Demon Accord series. I love that Declan, despite having overwhelming powers and being the strongest witch in all of history, still struggles with life and emotions like a normal human which makes him a more relatable and likeable hero. Many of the characters from the other books are present in this book as well which gives it more depth. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, end of the world scenarios, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. I will definitely keep reading the series to see what evil beings and plans are thwarted next by Chris, Tanya, Declan, Stacia and the rest of the crew.

More adventures of Declan and Chris against the Vorsook

You would think by now as we hit book 17 in the series!! readers would finally get the authors writing style. But no still some after reading/listening to 17 books over 1600 hours of audio would still give low stars when a book in the series narrows it focus and does not rush to a climax in the main long range plot. I recall all the negative reviews when the storyline added Declan. oh how some got their panties in a wad. Yet then were giving all star top ratings by College Archain which was continuation of secod main character focus. It's clear like with a number of other books in the series that the point of this book is to set the scene for the next book where we reach another climax 8n the over all series long term storyline. any now it should be apparent how the John Conroe has the ability to bring new branches and plots into this series that still with its branches all get tied into the series long term storyline.

In this genre I would rate Demon Accords and Dresden Files as the top two series yet with two completely different yet excellent styles. In terms of audio books they both greatly benefit from have excellent narrators. James Cronin does a near flawless performance. You lose yourself into the story. The characters voices never wander and they are each clearly recognizable from book to book.

My taste is in fantasy and sci-fi. Dresden Files, Demon Accords, Monster Hunters International, Expeditionary Force, Undying Mercenaries. If your looking for a new series in these genre and have not read/listened to one of these try a couple books of each. A notch down but still not a bad series if you overlook some of injection the author adds that the storyline could do without; Iron Druid series can be captivating and a enjoyable listen with great comic relief from the sidekick. It too as with all the others I have mentioned benefit greatly from fantastic narrators.

Recommended Listening:

Demon Accords
Dresden Files
Iron Druid
Monster Hunter International
Expeditionary Force
Undying Mercenaries

Great story

I have loved this series, the characters, the humor, fight scenes, and super powerful beings in this series. I admit I am wearing thin on the petty jealousy, and more yet the endless pondering of how Declan may go off the rails. Hopefully the twins will have some comical twist in an upcoming book. Overall, the series is amazing and the narration adds another layer. I love it!

John Conroe is an amazing author!
