Publisher's summary

Wilhelmina Brewster has been a college music professor for 41 years, devoting her life to her career and never marrying. Now, after her forced retirement at age 65, she is mourning her loss and searching for something to fill the empty hours.

Widower Mike Dolan is a pilot and World War II veteran who has always lived life to the fullest. When medical tests confirm that his cancer has returned, he makes plans to take a final flight in his airplane rather than become a burden to his family. Wilhelmina accidentally learns of Mike’s final plans, and when she discovers that he isn’t a believer, she knows it’s her Christian duty to talk with him about her faith. But although she has been a lifelong Christian, she feels totally inadequate for the task of witnessing to an unbeliever.

Mike and Wilhelmina are two very different people - one figuring out how to live, the other how to die. Yet they will find themselves journeying together as they search for answers to life, loss, and faith in God.

Fly Away

What a great message given from the inspiring words of Lynn Austin, through the voice of narrator Jacki Kleineksel! Trust in the Lord always and not unto thien own understanding the Bible says . Lynn wonderfully brings out the value of human life and Gods plan for it thru her story ! I can't say enough in regards to her talented writing skills.

Wonderful development of retirement end of life issues

Lynn Austin develops her characters beautifully. The story is well written and appealing to those of us who grew up in middle America small towns. The issues accompanying retirement and end of life are handled with sensitivity and authenticity.

So so

I am a Lynn Austin fan. I anxiously await each new book. I’m slightly disappointed in this one. I guess the story line just wasn’t my taste. The beginning was very slow and I had a hard time staying interested.

Narrator too gushy

Great Christian fiction. But I had trouble sticking with the audible due to the narration. It felt like I was being read to by a first grade teacher. The narrator did a great job on a few of the voices but not the main story.

Real life struggles couched in humor and wisdom.

I was so drawn into this delightful story and its narration that I invited my husband to enjoy it with me. We laughed, felt the characters’ pain, and rejoiced as we listened to it. Lynn Austin provided a book that is at the top of my favorites of hers. Jacki Kleinheksel did an outstanding job of bringing each character to life and was the perfect narrator for this book. I have listened to almost all of Lynn A’s books. She is one of my all time favorite authors who has both enlightened me historically and blessed me spiritually.

Another amazing book by Lynn Austin

I wish all Christian-fiction could be this well written. More real-life characters and more real-life stories than most other authors. Please continue to write.

A favorite author

Lynn Austin did it again. Outstanding read. Always engaging, descriptive and draws the reader in to the story. Hate it when the book is finished. This was another five star read.

Beautiful faith based story

I really enjoyed this story. It helped me to know how important it is to tell people about Christ. This unfolded totally different than I thought it would. Have patience with Wilhimina, she is such a cranky lady but a sweetie in her own way.

great Christian point of view

I was really afraid that sign was going to take the view that life is expendable when it means the end but she did a great job of showing that God has purposes and reasons for what he does even if it's not easy. another great point of view on this it's from Joni eareckson Tada also

Great perspective, inspiring.

Lynn Austin can write about any subject and give God's perspective and inspire the reader. This story from a world view is a tragedy on many levels but Lynn shows that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, who only ever brings hope and a future..
