Such a beautiful story!

Sadly our Jewish descendants had to endure the atrocities of the holocaust. This story captures the experiences that must have been of many. But also how those who tried to intervene were affected as well. All of this enveloped by the promise of God to never leave us. One of the best books I’ve listened to!!

A heart wrenching and heart warming story told by one of my favorite narrators. Faith, love, hope, and friendship told through WWII experiences.

Incredible story

I have been so impressed by each and everyone one of Lynn Austin‘s books, but this one just blew me away. It helped me understand my family better. I have German Jewish grandparents on my mom and dad side. This helped me understand why they wouldn’t or couldn’t share their stories. What a powerful and wonderful book. The narrator also did an incredible job.

As always Lynn delivers an excellent story. Very informative. I never knew the Jews tried to escape
to Cuba.

Finally something different!

Yes, there are a couple aspects of this book that follow the expected path, However, there are also aspects that break the traditional, stereotypical endings/conclusions. It was a good book from beginning to end but it was not predictable, and that is what I’ve been looking for.

Awesome book

Greatly enjoyed this story. It provides a good story steeped in faith in God and what that means. Characters were believable and I enjoyed following their stories.

The ending is the best

The ending shows a faithful God despite the evil that happens in this world. It opened my eyes to what people who are indifferent and do nothing can enable.
