NOT AUSTIN NOT UP TO PAR

ALLTHOUGH I ENJOYED THIS BOOK AS LIGHT READING, I FOUND IT WASN'T LYNN AUSTIN'S USUAL STYLE. IT LACKED THE THOUGHT PROVOKING STORY LINE WITH A DEEPER MEANING. HOWEVER, LYNN AUSTIN IS #1 IN MY AUTHOR PREFERENCE

What made the experience of listening to A Proper Pursuit the most enjoyable?

The narrator did a stunning job, and Austin's depictions of Violet - a precotious young woman despite her time at finishing school - are pitch-perfect. Her sense of humor shines through in this book.
Typically, Austin's books are more profound than this one, but Proper Pursuit does tackle issues of faith, service, women's rights, wealth, and finding one's place in the world (albeit with a much lighter touch).

Who was your favorite character and why?

Apart from Vioet, I think Aunt Birdie was adorable

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were two scenes near the end that made me cry (I refuse to say more)

This book is well worth the read. If you're looking for something more serious, this might not be for you, but I must say I loved it

Delightful!!!

This book is well written and narrated into a truly delightful and funny book. I laughed out loud many times while enjoying the growth of the main character Violet Rose Hayes. Lynn Austin has written a well-researched historical with strong characters and vivid descriptions that place you right in each scene. I can easily picture the Chicago World Exposition in 1893 and almost experience riding the first Ferris Wheel. One of Austin's best. Light. Funny. Romantic. The narrator does voices and accents very well. Highly recommend this one and I would encourage a sequel.

Difficult Beginning

The beginning was so cliche'I almost stopped listening. I'm happy I finished. Simply sweet book.

I never wanted it to end!

Absolutely adored this story I wish it went on forever. The main character is adorable and funny and the narration is fantastic. I laughed and cried and felt like I was there. Lovely story.

A Proper Pursuit

Jennifer Ikeda was the perfect narrator for this marvelous nivel ! Once again Lynn Austin did not disappoint. I loved the twist and turns of the story told as only lynn can ! The ending was a surprise for sure !!!

Wonderful Story

I really enjoyed this book. The main character was delightful and the story was engaging.

The plot was very good. did not care for the different types of voices of the reader. took me a bit to get over that, but overall Lynn Austin didn't fail to keep me listening.
