Founded in 1821 as the South Carolina Lunatic Asylum, it housed, fed, and treated thousands of patients incapable of surviving on their own. Great Stories, Poor Narration
A great collection of ghost stories about old South Carolina. While they are enjoyable, the delivery falls flat. This book is unfortunately ruined by a terrible choice of narrator. The narrator constantly takes awkward pauses in the middle of sentences (kind of like when someone takes too long to turn a page, loses their place, and then needs a moment to get going again), and goes out of her way to over enunciate every word. I'm looking for an enjoyable read, not a speech class. Frankly it wouldn't hurt to have a book about South Carolina read by someone with a southern accent; the few times the narrator attempts one it is painful to listen to.
