Editorial reviews

"The three women are dynamic, realistic and fun; readers feel like they truly know them by the end of the book. The story is inspiring and hopeful. Snelling tells a wonderful tale...in this perfect summer read." ( RT Book Reviews)

Publisher's summary

A heartwarming story that celebrates how life-changing friendships can be found in all seasons of life.

The sprawling lake home Lynn Lundberg built with her husband has been an epicenter of joyful family life, from summer holidays spent around the water to cookies baked in the kitchen with grandchildren in the fall. But since her husband's sudden passing two years ago, Lynn has been lost in the grief and solitude she feels without him at home. She doesn't want to sell the big family place, but she can't exist there on her own much longer.

After hearing of a new way of living - where single women share responsibilities as housemates - Lynn thinks she's found the answer to her prayers. Soon she meets two ladies with whom she could begin this journey. Angela Bishop, a successful real estate agent accustomed to the finer things in life, has just been jilted by her husband of 25 years. Judith Rutherford, who has devoted her adulthood to caring for her ailing father, must leave the only home she's known now that he has passed.

These three women seek a place to grieve, to laugh, and to be renewed. But coming from such differing circumstances, will the new challenges they face undo their plans? Or will they begin a friendship to see them through the years to come in this Someday Home?

great christian book

story of 3 women deciding to live together as roommates in more mature years... the backgrounds of each, and learning give and take, the importance of forgiveness...inclusion of grandkids, families...etc. narrator ok. a different type of book that made me think of what it would be like in a situation like this.

Problem with narrator. Otherwise a great story.

I really enjoyed the story. I felt like the narrator’s voice sounded too old as a 52 year old, which was distracting. Otherwise I really like the story.

Excellent as expected and as always

Lauraine Snelling is as always a poignant writer whose books do not mirror each other just using different names and places, has put together another timely novel that addresses current issues of life through her characters. Though her characters have a deep faith and acknowledgement of God they seem to encounter struggles of faith in a very realistic manner .....

Seemed strangely short...

It seemed like it was just getting started and you were finally getting to know the characters better and then it was over. Narrator was pretty good.

Good story

The storyline was good, but the main character, Lynn, was performed as a woman 20-30 years older than she was. This was a major distraction to me. Even old souls have young voices when they are young.

I enjoyed this book

I loved the connection of these three families and the struggles they all worked through both individually and together.

Predictable

I found the book one dimensional. The characters didn’t have many layers!!! There were no other kinds of people in the story. Even though there was plenty of opportunity to expand the characters. The person doing the voice of the older woman sounded like she had one foot in the grave!! No I didn’t enjoy the book!!!!

Enjoyable

How refreshing to read a story about adult friends. This wasn’t a hot romance novel, but a common-life story with great character development and enjoyable people to get to know. I wish there were more such books to add to my library.

Such a great book!

First off, I live by Cincinnati, OH now but born and raised in Eastern North Dakota until moving here at age 32. I absolutely love Lauraines writing. Love how she puts different towns or areas or Scandinavian words and things I know so well from my heritage and it’s all peppered throughout. Love how there are strong women in so many books and they find their way. Mostly by Faith. Love how people are helping each other just to make it in sometimes bad situations. God planted in ME the love of helping others. Lauraine, I’ve got a life story that would be one heck of a storyline! 😜 One can never go wrong with a Lauraine Snelling book! Thank you!

Sweet Story

If you could sum up Someday Home in three words, what would they be?

I had just listened to a violent and disturbing mystery. This story was all good, very sweet story, had some spirituality included. It made me feel peaceful, spiritual and calm.....

What about Kristin Kalbli’s performance did you like?

I liked her soft spoken voice.

If you could rename Someday Home, what would you call it?

Leap of faith
