Publisher's Summary

He's everything I've never wanted - too young, too weird, too wild.

I wasn't impressed that I had to get my weekly massage from a guy with a toe ring. But when I discovered David Cooke's skills as a masseur were literally orgasmic, I couldn't stop thinking about him and his amazing hands, day and night. Especially at night.

He's full of surprises. And despite my bad behavior, David's just as eager to explore this chemistry between us. Turns out, there's a lot more to him than hemp pants and tattoos. If he's so wrong for me, why does being with him feel so right?

Oil and Water...

Oil and water may not mesh, but David and Seth do. He's everything I never knew I wanted...what a catch phrase. A little mystery, a little romance, and a well placed ring all serve as perfect ingredients for a great story. Excellent narration. Entertaining and enjoyable!!!

Amusing with a bit of facepalming

Overall the story is amusing, but it also made me facepalm a few times when Seth was being particularly stupid haha. He could be embarrassing at times in a way that made me a bit annoyed at him but on the other hand that also made him more real.
David... I would like to read the story from his point of view *small smile*
I actually grew rather fond of Molly too XD

I rather liked the narrator, I felt that he did a good job with the characters's different voices.

Rough and still adorable

Seth and David are two sides of the same coin, rough and hard to sweet and thoughtful but both are sexy as hell. This has a good story and a great narrator, the characters are believable and well crafted. It also had me laughing out loud at some parts and talking back to my headphones, "you did not just say that!" Very entertaining.

This was fun and lovely characters

Any additional comments?

Seth is taking care of his niece after his sister died, he's new to parenthood, and is slowly adapting to a life with a child in it.
One day at his weekly massage, he meets David, and has a orgasmic experience!!!
Those two were lovely as a couple, I liked them both :) The part of the story line with the photos, not a big fan of it, but oh well, I guess there was supposed to be some tension there...

Nice short story. Worth the purchase!

I purchased this mainly because of Shannon Gunn being the narrorator. He did such a good job on the Temptation series I looked for more books done by him. He did good with this book too, and the story kept me entertained!

Really enjoyed it

What made the experience of listening to Men of Smithfield: Seth and David the most enjoyable?

I really enjoy the narrator of the Men of Smithfield books. The voice of Quinn was a bit over-the top, but I thought Seth was perfection. It definitely added to my enjoyment of these books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

David. Some characters in these types of books can be fairly one-dimensional, but Seth was responsible and nurturing, yet wild and a risktaker at the same time. I liked this dichotomy.

Which scene was your favorite?

Maybe the scene in the alley. The sex scenes in this book are aggressive and hot. The scene in the alley set the tone of the book. Yet the book could also be really funny and sweet as well.

the men of smithfield

Different MCs, one is basically a clueless ass uncle, and the other is an over accomplished writer.
I liked the book, the relationship wasn't easy, life gets in the way.

Narrator was fun to listen to.

Not fully invested in the performance

I am not big fan of audio because I like to have control over th tone on while reading. It was difficult to agree with tome of the performance bit o think without... This would have been a better read

Self loathing gay guy

What would have made Men of Smithfield: Seth and David better?

I understand the protagonist had a rough patch recently, but everything he said/did was totally over the top. He, obviously, wasn't comfortable with himself or most of the gay men he associated with. Even at the end (SPOILER) when he ended up with the man of his dreams, he still second guessed his motives, didn't really like how his man presented/carried himself, etc.

What was most disappointing about L. B. Gregg and Shannon Gunn ’s story?

The story was relatively predictable, yet totally unrealistic.

Which character – as performed by Shannon Gunn – was your favorite?

David - he seemed real and down to earth. Seth was consistently unpleasant beginning to end.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not really. I was looking for a light, erotic story ... I got a mishmash of emotions, weirdly intertwined plot lines and even odder romantic overtures toward the end.

It's like having Jack Bauer teach nursery school

What would have made Men of Smithfield: Seth and David better?

The story could do a bit of re-working. The tone and arrogance of Seth is lost in non-eventful plot devices. Two issues happen and they aren't explored or exploited which made this story fall in my opinion.

What will your next listen be?

Retreat: Pandemic

Would you be willing to try another one of Shannon Gunn’s performances?

I have another audiobook of the same author and narrator; Mark and Tony. I just hope it's better but given the same length, I can imagine it might be the same.

What character would you cut from Men of Smithfield: Seth and David?

Quinn, he's the probably the least important and most dull. But so is Ben Martin. They need to be more threatening to have any point in the plot.

Any additional comments?

My reference to Jack Bauer is that Shannon does well to tone and angry, masculine and arrogant character and yet this isn't utilised in the plot. He keeps thinking "Oh, I want to kick the crap out of this guy" etc but by the end, he is as lethal as a snail.

The only plus side to this story is Shannon's narration to the erotic scenes. They can be quite excitable.

Story was ok and listened to the whole book

The fact I listen to the end meant that it was ok.
I found the narrator to come across as quite angry & frustrated and I guess that is the character.
The story is simple and for the money worth the time to listen as nothing lost really only a few $
