Publisher's Summary

Christine was eating into his mind, burrowing into his unconscious. Christine, blood red, fat, and finned, was 20. Her promise lay all in her past. Greedy and big, she was Arnie's obsession, a '58 Plymouth Fury. Broken down but not finished.

There was still power in her - a frightening power that leaked like sump oil, staining and corrupting. A malign power that corroded the mind and turned ownership into possession.

A wonderful book brought to life

This is one of my favourite King novels and Holter Graham did not disappoint as the narrator. The character's were fully realized and just as I imagined them to be. Very impressed

never gets stale

I read this book for the first time when I was about sixteen. It was my first Stephen king. I loved it. I've 're read it a few times over the years, and most of Stephen kings other books, and in my opinion it is one of his best. His earlier books had a strong continuity and commitment that I think some of his later books lacked. This is the first time I've listened to Christine as an audio book, the narrator is excellent in every way. His voice has a youth full yet wise tone, he was a perfect choice. His voices were so good especially Arnie who's voice changes, subtlety at first. I'm now much much older than sixteen and this audio book stood the test of time for me

Christine Review...

If you could sum up Christine in three words, what would they be?

Sinister,
Gripping,
Epic

What other book might you compare Christine to, and why?

The shining, as I loved that book also

What does Holter Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Atmosphere

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found it neither, I did find it scary!

Any additional comments?

Nope

Demonic car for sale.

It's a great book. One of my favorites. Only Sk can write a story that seems so normal with minor suspicion of what's to come. Then halfway through the book, it all comes together in one big awesome horror story.
It all starts when Arnie tells his friend to back the car up to where the old 58 Plymouth is. He soon purchases the vehicle. Arnie has found a new love. As time goes by his relationship with his friends becomes more and more strained. He becomes more and more obsessed with the car. Likewise so does the car.
Yes it's one of Kings best. A definite 5 star from me.

As good a tale about a haunted car as you can have

What made the experience of listening to Christine the most enjoyable?

This was a story where listening to it in audio really added to the experience and I enjoyed it more than if I had read a text version. This was because Holter Graham did the character voices so well; it felt like he really captured how the prose intended for them to sound, sometimes adding even more emotion than the prose conveyed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Christine?

The scene where Christine first comes to life on her own, in order to run somebody down, stands out. Until then, the whole supernatural aspect of the story felt more mysterious and uncertain - when we actually see the car unambiguously coming to life and taking on the role of a horror-movie monster, it gets a bit wacky all at once.

Which character – as performed by Holter Graham – was your favourite?

Arnie, the owner of the titular Christine, as Holter Graham does such a good job of showing the gradual change in his voice as time passes and the car tightens its grip on him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Towards the end, definitely. I usually listen to audiobooks while commuting - in the case of Christine, I started listening during my lunch break too as I was so eager to find out what would happen next.

Any additional comments?

The most compelling parts of the story - rather than the horror scenes involving a car running by itself - are the gradual effect that the car has on Arnie, and how events gradually escalate out-of-control, as well as some general observations about teenagers making the transition to adulthood along the way.

So much more than just a "killer car"-story

The character in the book are wuite relatable, and the suspense some of the best King has written.

Great story, well read

As a recently converted Stephen King fan 'Christine' is a story I've wanted to get into for a while and this audiobook was an awesome companion to have in my car.
Holter Graham's narration is terrific, giving distinct, expressive voices to the different characters including one particular character who changes quite significantly throughout the book.
While not an overly scary book, it's definitely creepy until the last word and it's great if, like me, you're a rather slow reader but want to get through a thoroughly entertaining story.
