In der Erzählung Fenitschka setzt sich Lou Andreas-Salomé, mit der auch für sie sehr bedeutsamen Problematik von Ehe und dem Bedürfnis nach weiblicher Selbstentfaltung im Kontext des damaligen Frauenbildes auseinander. Die Autorin schrieb diese Novelle um 1900, nach einem langen Aufenthalt in Paris. Deutlich erkennen wir in dieser Geschichte autobiographische Züge. Es geht um eine junge Russin, die nach einem langen Studium endlich zu leben beginnt und nun versucht, das Wesen der Liebe zu ergründen. In einer heimlichen Romanze meint sie, dieses Ideal endlich gefunden zu haben. Als aber die Romanze langsam aufgedeckt wird, werden ihr die Lügen und Heimlichkeiten zur Qual, und als der Geliebte gar versucht, sie mit Hilfe eines Heiratsantrages offiziell an sich zu binden, wird ihr die Natur dieser Liebe plötzlich offenbar, und, vor sich selbst erschreckend, flieht sie.
Feinfühlig und detailliert veranschaulicht die Autorin das Schicksal dieser jungen Frau, ihren emotionalen und zwischenmenschlichen Konflikt im Spannungsfeld von Liebe und Rollenzwang. Lou Andreas-Salomés Text ist eine literarische kunstvoll inszenierte und philosophisch akzentuierte Gesellschaftsstudie, die einen sachlichen und facettenreichen Einblick in das Seelenleben einer emanzipierten Frau zur Zeit der Jahrhundertwende ermöglicht. Sie stellt die Frage nach dem Wesen der Liebe, die heute noch genauso schwierig zu beantworten ist wie damals. Obwohl die Erzählung vor über 120 Jahren geschrieben wurde, wirkt sie geradezu beunruhigend aktuell. Selbst in Zeiten eines angestrebten ausgeglichenen Geschlechterverhältnisses berührt uns die Geschichte dieser ungewöhnlichen Frau, die ganz bei sich ist und es dennoch nicht sein darf.

Über die Sprecherin:
Viola Gräfenstein ist ausgebildete Hörfunkjournalistin, Redakteurin und Sprecherin von Texten. Sie arbeitet seit fast zwanzig Jahren für verschiedene öffentlich-rechtliche Sender (u.a. WDR, Deutschlandfunk, SWR, ZDF, 3sat Kulturzeit) und schreibt für Magazine und Zeitungen. Viola Gräfenstein studierte Romanistik, Anglistik (Schwerpunkt Literaturwissenschaften) und Geschichte (Magister) in Bielefeld, Lyon und Southampton. Stimmbildung und Sprechtraining erhielt sie u.a. an der Deutschen Hörfunkakademie Dortmund, in der Theaterschule La Bouche, beim ZDF, sowie in der Akademie für professionelles Sprechen Berlin. Sie arbeitet als Dozentin an Medienakademien und gibt Kurse im Bereich Reportage, Hörspiele und Podcasts für Kinder und Jugendliche.
