Maya Angelou’s unforgettable collection of poetry lends its name to the documentary film about her life, And Still I Rise, as seen on PBS’s American Masters. “It is true poetry she is writing,” M. F.K . Fisher has observed, “not just rhythm, the beat, rhymes. I find it very moving and at times beautiful. It has an innate purity about it, unquenchable dignity.... It is astounding, flabbergasting, to recognize it, in all the words I read every day and night...it gives me heart, to hear so clearly the caged bird singing and to understand her notes.”

I know you don’t want to talk sometimes. Sometimes because it hurts and sometimes because you’re just not supposed to talk about what you want to talk about. Sometimes it can be hard to say, “this is beautiful”, when no one else can see what you see. Or, “Here, this is where the pain is.” But some part of you knows, the truth about the words you cannot say is that they only hurt until you say them.

Publisher's Summary
Expressions of Poetry by Montice Harmon is a beautiful collection of semi-confessional poems that speak about the poet's trials and tribulations. The poems are a kind of motivation for depressed minds and discouraged people to rise above their problems and face the world with a positive attitude.
Most of Harmon's poems are prose poems. He takes prose poems to another level with this collection. The poems all deal with some aspect of the poet's personal struggles - his joys and sorrows - and they connect you with his spirit and inner mind.
Poetry need not be confessional all the time, but it can most often be the result of some soul-searching or some emotions that are embedded in the poet's mind.
Many poems are inspiring for the listener. They help the listener to come to terms with personal tragedies and rise above them.

Love It!!!
Expressions of Poetry is such a wonderful collection of mordern day hip hop Spokenword Poetry. It delivers a testimony of a poetic soul searching for freedom within, escaping distractions from things that makes our flesh weak.
I found Montice Harmon's words very genuine and promising to the point I have a stronger belief now today, then I did yesterday about the coming changes of our lives. His story makes a difference to those who understand his struggles. He speaks of his burdens in hope to grow and become the man he was sent here to become.
After listening with friends, I had to introduce this audiobook to my partner and as we listened together it brought the fire of love into our relationship as far as rekindling our romance. In so many ways this edition hits on all levels of life where one may be lacking and not even knowing it until you discover inspirational stories like this one I discovered 😊.

The Dream.. in Prose Poetry.
I love the essence of this story. The meaning it brings forth along with the connection to the poets trails and tribulations. There's nothing wrong with dreaming and this American writer has giving me and family peace and hope that better days will come and set us free.
I will not critize his belief because obviously it works for him and has inspired his life to become the change the needs today through spoken word. I was touched, encouraged and motivated beyond boundaries. I will be using this book as a daily inspiration to my everyday thoughts.

Really Good Story!!!
I enjoyed the story and thought it was well performed with genuine opinions, aspirations and dreams. From love to encouraging his people and people all around the world to unite, love, honor and respect one another. How could anyone judges one's hope for a better future for not only his people whom he relates to. But to all people around the world who can relate. There's powerful testimonies of truth in his spoken word.
After reading the only negative review made me realize many might disagree with truth when it's them that are a part of the bloodline that ruined the mentality of another races culture corrupting their indenity and stealing everything from them. Their sole purpose from the beginning, past, present and future. Which, in our lifetime today we have this broken generation.
It's sad my culture or race could judge what he/she do not understand. I understood everything he talked about and despite the fact I'm caucasian, I still understand their struggles. However, Harmon doesn't hate anyone and nothing but peace flowed from his poetic soul and I don't blame him for what he speaks about in this edition because it's "TRUE" "TRUTH". It opens my mind to understanding a intelligent race with so much potential. I loved all the revolutionary concerns in his poems. All the love, joys and even pains because it teaches you how to love no matter what unless you're evil like most of my ancestors and people today.

Righteously Legendary
Encouraged from the moment I started listening to this story. His visions are clear and speaks a million volumes of life. Harmon voice consoles listeners and guides them with knowledge and understanding of what we are and the control we have as a people to live in a world where change can come truth only if we believe.
His thoughts and opinions are deep religion folding into mordern day doctrines of truth and no room for lies. The thing I love dearly is that he doesn't deny his belief or faith in a higher power of love. Not of hate or being misunderstood. Judgment is our biggest problem and through this story I've learned no matter.. to never give up on love, life and believing we are important and deserve more then we've accepted.

Great Story..
Life is full of surprises, hopes and dreams. Mr. Harmon's gives us listeners words of expression that gives us courage and faith. I found this story of prose poetry to be more non-fiction then fiction because it hits so close to home when I realize the change our world needs.
The author touches on every life-changing experience it throws our way providing an every lasting impression that there is a chance we can unite, love and explore our souls for peace of mind to conquer our greatest fears. Some poets writes to rhyme, but Montice writes to inspire and motivate the world through poetry spoken word.
I learned a lot from this edition and would recommend it to my teenagers for encouragement and to any soul searching for inspiration. It truly inspired my family and gave us all a new outlook on life.

Harmon Gives Hope!
One of the most personal inspirational poetry collections I've heard since the great American poet Maya Angelou. Harmon is somewhat like the male version of her. However, it's not all about him, but how he sees change for all mankind.
His mind is brilliant when it comes to expressions of his meaning of love. It was such an amazing experience hearing his beautiful voice speak meanings so true.
Seriously, after hearing this edition my life changed in a way His poems are compelling. Each poem gave me chills, encouragement and hope for a brighter day. I'm thrilled I came across this audiobook. I am now a fan of Mr. Harmon's poetry.

With out a doubt Mr. Harmon words are pure knowledge and wisdom. Having understanding and knowing how he feels brought me and his poetry closer.
I love poetry that inspires and reflects on one's life for change. This title has become my Black History anthem for many years to come. I Was in for a treat hearing his words reflect on the same change many of our leaders In his own words.
Montice is yet the only poet of this generation who's voice has open wombs. He speaks the things we are afraid of because of the limited opportunities we have today. This brother is an amazing motivational speaker with a million ways to change our lives. We absolutely need more works like this one released.

The Black Poets American Dream..
Harmon finds prose-poetry as an infinite strength to express towards rejecting gang violence, drugs, fatherless and abandon children while examining historical injustice acts towards black people all around the world.
He explores and speak the mordern day doctrines very relative to the great Black American leaders such as Malcolm X and Dr. King.
Harmon's calm distinctive demeanour is appealing to the lyrical onslaughts comforting the nature of his poetic subject matter. His words are promising.

Glad I Gave It A Try!!!
What a wonderful audiobook filled with wonders, hopes and what seems the American dream. However, because of the history of his ancestors it has torn his culture and race in all a part. His words are deep and the topics are very modern day. Very common in the states. I feel his pain and struggles for a better world. I think when we all do we would be better off...
