Story was good but

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked the story but I just don't like the narrator. She sounds a little robotic. I couldn't get into it. I would rather read this book.

short but sweet

I loved the connection between the characters. even though it is a short story I didn't feel like I had unanswered questions or that there was a lack of depth to the story. one of RP James's best!

Great highlander short.

This is my first read by R.P. James and it was a great short Scottish erotic romance.

for a short book it was really good. this book could have been turned into a longer book or could become a series of books. i really enjoyed

Short Sweet Story!

This was a super short sweet Highlander romance. This is a story of Flora who falls in love with her kidnapper. At times the narrator came off sounding a little robotic.

Finally, a decent accent and straight sex!

Would you consider the audio edition of Escaping Into the Arms of My Highland Lover to be better than the print version?

Yes, it brings the characters to life in my ears :-)

I'm glad that the author does actually write straight sex Highlander roms! I was beginning to think he only wrote Highlander roms with shapeshifters and rough, menage type sex.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have gotten a different male narrator for the story or had the narrator work more on his Scottish inflection. Mr. Rising has a lovely sounding voice, but he didn't really fit well as a Scottish Highlander.

I did like the use of two narrators though for a change :-)

Which character – as performed by Veronica Heart and Turner Rising – was your favorite?

Flora for Ms. Heart - she actually did well with performing a Scottish accent, almost to the point where I couldn't understand a couple of words she said! Like listening to a native brogue.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It could go either way. It was less than an hour long... It was a cute (can Highlanders be cute) sweet and simple tale. I probably won't listen to it again.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would change it in two ways that contradict!
#1 A longer book
#2 A male narrator with Scottish accent. This one couldn't seem to decide what accent to use! He used them all! American, wild west, British & sometimes a Scottish-ish.
The female narrator was much better

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Veronica Heart and Turner Rising ?

I'd have Veronica Heart do the whole thing. She seems capable. I HATED to lump her performance in the 3 STAR rating but I have to review the performance in its entirety. SHE earned the stars, not Mr. Rising.

Any additional comments?

I had a tough time with this one. I usually write a lengthy free-form review but didn't in this case because the book was so short. The publisher's summary covered everything, so anything additional would have 'spoiled.'

horrible narrators

the narrators were absolutely horrible - couldn't get passed the 2nd chapter! Their Scottish accents definitely needs work as I initially thought the Hero was from Texas! I would have picked no stars but it wasn't an option!
