It was ok

Overall I liked the story but the punishments during sex were a little too scary for me. I don’t know much about bdsm though so maybe I’m just not used to this. I really like that this author does not skirt around consent - the Dom gives the sub plenty of opportunities to have things stop.

Great narration makes the story even hotter

Wonderful narration makes the already scorching story even hotter. It's easy to listen to Em Brown read the story, and she really captures both Millie's character as well as Alistair's voice. They are written with nuance and depth. Millie may be submissive in bed, but she isn't afraid to stand up to Alistair and fight for what she wants. And she does it without seeming out of time or too modern.

Alistair is used to being obeyed, in bed and out, so Millie gives him a real challenge. All of that desire, frustration, and emotion comes across in Brown's narration. I don't always like women reading male voices, but she did a great job.

great story, strong characters, extreamly good narration. I look forward to reading the rest of her books.

Hot Erotica and BDSM

I enjoyed this story by Em Brown. Although some of the BDSM scenes were a bit harsh for my tastes, there was nothing nonconsual or cruel about it. I really liked the underlying story and would love to read/listen to a "softer" version of the story, i.e. same level of eroticism with less BDSM elements. I enjoyed both Mildred and Alastair, and I loved Lady Catherine and her subtle (or not) attempts to bring Alastair and Mildred together. It was a bit like leading a horse to water. It took him a while to decide to drink. I loved the ending. It satisfied even a romantic like me.

The narration took me a little while to get used to, but once I acclimated it suited me just fine.
