Publisher's Summary

America’s financial doomsday. A wayward son. The epic struggle to survive.

Country music icon Shane Black is this year’s headliner for the New Year’s Eve bash in Times Square, but when violent riots break out, he’ll need more than a six string to escape New York City.

After decades of abuse as the world’s reserve currency, the US dollar’s day of reckoning is at hand. Without a functioning monetary system to purchase basic goods, society rapidly descends into abject chaos. Protests, looting, and bloodletting take the place of civility in a country which becomes thoroughly unhinged.

Thrust into an apocalyptic gauntlet of terror, Shane must resort to savage brutality to get out of Manhattan alive.

Could the impending currency collapse be the broken road that leads him home?

Shane left everyone and everything he knew to chase the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He found fortune and fame but can’t forgive himself for abandoning his hometown sweetheart, Julianna. She moved on years ago, but when Julianna shares a secret with Shane, it changes his life forever.

The coming economic meltdown will bring America to her knees.

The impending pension crisis proves to be the catalyst which pushes the US economy to the brink. With no other tools at their disposal, the federal government is forced to print an unprecedented amount of new currency. Faith in the dollar erodes, and the dominoes start falling.

Don’t miss this chilling glimpse into America’s future. Listen to Black Swan, a pulse-pounding tale of redemption and survival, today!

As with all works by Mark Goodwin, this book contains no profanity and no embarrassing sex scenes. However, if you're offended by conservative principles and references to Scripture, this book might not be for you.

Fiction or soon to be facts? This is going to be a Great series!!

Mr Goodwin’s new series is Fantastic!
I thought I’d listen to the prologue and then get back to the audio book when I wasn’t busy. Haha! Next thing I knew I was 2 hrs into the book!
It’s a fantastic and relatable book! I love the characters, which are brought to life even more by Mr Pierce’s narration.
Mr. Goodwin’s new series may not be as fictional as you might think! America’s economy, although fair right now, is fragile enough to change at anytime...with any political decision....
I can’t wait for book two, so I can continue to follow along with the Dysphoria characters and each dilemma, and victory they have to deal with.

One of Mark's best

Although I really enjoy Mark Goodwin's writing (in particular the Days of Noah and Days of Elijah series), I was pleasantly surprised by how good this story was. Lots of twists and did an excellent job of exposing the weaknesses in human nature. Particularly refreshing was the mistakes and shortfalls of the main characters and the struggle to overcome them. If he continues the rest of the series in like manner, I may have a new favorite. It will be a very difficult wait for the next installment. As always, the reading by Kevin Pierce is a joy to listen to and allows me to get immersed in the story instead of being distracted by the narration.

Should I say look at present day headlines?

A glimpse into a scenario not too unbelievable given todays political and economic reality. mark always comes through with a well constructed story. As a Christian, I appreciate his weaving scripture into each chapter.

Another incredible read by Mark Goodwin!

The reality of this story is actually quite scary. The author has woven in an all to believable “what if” scenario. It could happen tomorrow. As always I cannot wait for the next book and hope Kevin Pierce is narrating it!

Nicely Done!

Another amazing masterpiece. This work is cleverly written Christian end time survival material at its finest. The characters are so well developed that they soon feel like friends. I enjoyed this book from a personal point since I live in the town of Sylva. I could relate to it as well since as a classical musician....I quickly realized I couldnt live in a city...and moved home to the mountains to take a job teaching instead. It doesnt matter if you have talent and intelligence if you have to worry all the time about basic security. This book has a good bit of violence...but has clean language. It builds tension well and asks questions which leads to a comforting resolution. Can't wait for the sequel. Thanks for a job well done.
