Story
An unabridged reading of this classic novelisation of a 1968 TV adventure featuring the Second Doctor, as played on screen by Patrick Troughton. For 40 years the Yeti had been quiet, a collector's item in a museum. Then, without warning, it awoke and savagely murdered. At about the same time, patches of mist began to appear in Central London. People who lingered in the mist were found dead, their faces smothered in cobwebs. The cobweb seeped down, penetrating the Underground System.

The TARDIS crewmembers have taken a break from their adventures and are enjoying a rest in a luxury villa. But, in the gory grandeur that is Imperial Rome, things don't stay quiet. If the time travellers can save themselves from being sold as slaves, assassinated by classical hit-men, poisoned by the evil Locusta, thrown to the lions, maimed in the arena and drowned in a shipwreck, they still have to face the diabolical might of the mad Emperor Nero. As if that wasn't enough, they also discover that, although Rome wasn't built in a day, it burnt down in considerably less time.

Publisher's summary
Michael Troughton reads this gripping novelisation of a classic adventure for the Second Doctor.
"[Michael] Troughton makes a winning debut for the range and...has the uncanny ability to evoke the vocal tones of his father Patrick." Doctor Who Magazine
The Doctor remembers Dulkis as a civilised and peaceful place. But times have changed, and his second visit is not quite the holiday he was expecting.
When the whole planet and its inhabitants are threatened with annihilation by an alien race, the pacifist Dulcians are more reluctant than ever to engage in acts of violence. None of them will lift a finger to fight the Dominators and their robot slaves, the Quarks.
The Doctor, Jamie and Zoe may be the only ones capable of intervening to save the whole planet.
