Publisher's summary

Known by his alias, "Oliver Stone," John Carr is the most wanted man in America. With two pulls of the trigger, the men who destroyed Stone's life and kept him in the shadows were finally silenced.

But his freedom comes at a steep price: The assassinations he carried out prompt the highest levels of the U.S. government to unleash a massive manhunt. Behind the scenes, master spy Macklin Hayes is playing a very personal game of cat and mouse. He, more than anyone, wants Stone dead.

With their friend and unofficial leader in hiding, the members of the Camel Club risk everything to save him. Now, as the hunters close in, Stone's flight from the demons of his past will take him from the power corridors of Washington, D.C., to the small, isolated coal-mining town of Divine, Virginia-and into a world every bit as lethal as the one he left behind.

Love the Camel Club

Another great book with my favorites Oliver Stone and the Camel Club. As with the previous books I couldn't stop listening. If you liked the others, you'll like this one. I was able to listen to it while warm and snug during a couple of days of cold and rainy weather. What a treat!

Baldacci Does It Again

If you are a friend of the Camel Club, then this is a must read. The story takes up from Oliver's jump from the cliff as the author weaves a story of suspense that carries Oliver and eventually the Camel Club to an isolated mountain village in Virginia. Though this rag-tag team of characters do not face international intrigue found in earlier books, there is plenty of action, twists, and suspense to keep you entertained and wanting to hear more.

The reader does an excellent job of conveying the intense drama that is woven throughout the book.

Since Divine Justice is a continuation of the plot from the earlier book Stone Cold, ideally, one should read it before purchasing this latest book.

The play of words found in the title will only become clear as the book comes to its masterful end.

Show stopper - Divine Justice

From the first 5 minutes of listening you knew this was going to be a good book. The story took you to the next level with the club members. You saw new depth with each as they try to save their friend. I listened to the entire book in one 11 hour setting. This is truly worth a second or third playing.

Must Listen!

I have been waiting for Divine Justice for months and was not disappointed! This is the 4th book in the Camel Club series and I try enjoy the main character John Carr. What makes this series better than any other has to be the narrator. He is able to separate the character’s without sounding too dramatic and fake. Its slight differences that make it believable. The sound effects during fight and chase scenes also make it more interesting. I read 1 out of the 4 books and regret that I didn’t listen to the audio version. Ron McLarty truly adds his raspy voice to the character and truly makes you believe that is what John Carr would sound like in a movie. MUST LISTEN!

Fast paced thriller

If you like fast paced suspense and plenty of tough guy action this is for you. John Carr is underground running from the Feds fighting his way out of trouble wherever he goes but with a big heart. He's just the kind of guy you'd like in your corner. This is an audio book that will keep you listening in your driveway.

This novel resolves the mystery of Oliver Stone

John Carr was the top CIA assassin before he was forced to go underground, change his name to Oliver Stone, and become a cemetery caretaker. But the aging Oliver Stone did not stop protecting the US. He enlisted the help of some offbeat friends, the Camel Club, to continue his work. In Divine Justice he again fights his CIA enemies. This is a great suspense thriller made even better by the superb narration of Ron McLarty. I highly recommend the entire Camel Club series.

Solid plot-driven excitement

The story starts out somewhat more plausibly than it ends up, but the twists and turns of the plot kept me glued to my seat even when they were a bit far-fetched. It has bad guys you love to hate, and good guys you want desperately to survive and succeed. It's not profound, but good entertainment just the same.

just a comic book

This is my second Baldacci download, and it'll be my last. (The first, Wish You Well, was so awful that I couldn't finish it.) I expected so much more from a best-selling author, something along the caliber of, say, a Len Deighton. Instead, Baldacci seems to churn out comic books for people who don't want to be seen with the picture-book kind. Super heros and super villains, damsels in distress, macho bravado, it's all in Divine Justice to the nth nauseating degree. The plot swings from the implausible to the completely predictable Mighty-Mouse-is-on-the-Way scenario. If you're okay with the notion that the CIA functions openly as a kind of law enforcement agency within the United States, then maybe this load of hooey won't irritate you as much as it did me. I gave it 2 stars solely on the basis of the reader, who I thought did a good job of smoothing over the ridiculous and cartoonish dialogue.

Baldacci is a Master

I just finished Stone Cold and Devine Justice back to back, and and am praying that there will be more in the series. I love an author that creates a set of characters and then allows them to grow, continually peeling back the cover to reveal the core of the character, until you're convienced they are real. Baldacci has done that with Oliver Stone and the Camel Club.

Divine Justice picks up just months after Stone Cold ends. Stone is on the run again, leaving his friends behind so as not to involve them in his troubles, but not able to turn his back on those he meets along the road that are in need of help. This, of course, leads him back into trouble in small-town Virginia. If there is justice, Baldacci will give us more of Oliver Stone and friends.
