From Erica Spindler, the New York Times bestselling author of The Other Girl and The Look-Alike, comes The Detective’s Daughter, a thrilling crime drama about a woman who risks everything to solve the cold case that destroyed her father—but will it destroy her as well?

New Orleans Detective Quinn Conners is haunted by her father’s whiskey-soaked, last words—that he solved the Hudson murder and kidnapping. It wasn’t the first time he’d made that drunken claim, and she didn’t believe him. Twenty-four hours later she found him dead by his own hand.

Quinn blames the investigation for his downfall, so when a woman researching a book about the kidnapping contacts her for help, Quinn shuts her out. But an attempt on the writer’s life and an anonymous message that puts her father’s suicide in question convinces Quinn there’s more to the writer’s story.

Soon, Quinn finds herself entangled in the web of mystery surrounding Grace Hudson’s disappearance and the powerful, secretive family at the heart of it. With nowhere else to turn, she immerses herself in her dad’s private notes—they lead her down a dark, twisted path where nothing is as it seems and no one is above suspicion.

Too late, Quinn sees that, like her father before her, the case threatens to consume her. But turning back is not an option—she’s determined to unearth the truth of whatever happened to Grace Hudson . . . even if it costs her life.

I was about to stop listening as it was slow with the back and forth, but I hung in there and BAM it got so exciting and I even found myself crying! The ending was not expected at all either. All in all, I throughly enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. As always, Sophie Amoss is one of the best narrators!

A little slow but stay with it….

Suspenseful

I enjoyed this book. I took off one star because they seemed to “add” a character about 3/4 the way through and hinted at an issue / falling out between 2 characters that they didn’t address. Overall still deserve 5 stars

Great listen

This is a very good story with multiple twists and a somewhat surprising ending. I not only appreciate the fact that this is a good story but like the fact that it is read by a person not a robot.

Really Enjoyed

The Detective's Daughter is a very good read and hard to put down book. I especially liked the father daughter detectives. A great storyline. This book was so good I think I'll read another of her books.

Great Take on a Detective's Story

I figured out everything much before I was supposed to so it wasn’t suspenseful. If you like a character with a guilt ridden inner dialogue then this one is for you. Also if you like the story of a woman who was born a princess but she didn’t know it-buy this book. I don’t like a story ending with a character selling their story for Netflix..it’s so clearly the author’s own dream and it it breaks the suspension of disbelief. It makes the author look desperate. But if you like that you’ve come to the right place.

Very obvious story

Way too long and drawn out. Too many twists and turns. I would’ve enjoyed more if the story had not been so long

Too long!
