Story
By working together, Henry Sato and Jason Booth have managed to survive their unwanted trip to Ludus, an experiment planet. However, Delvers LLC has made some enemies...if monsters, bandits, mages, criminals, bounty hunters, and even dark cults can be called, "some enemies." After their latest battle, the two have been separated and must adapt or die. Henry in particular faces a trial by fire - perhaps literally - that may be impossible for him to overcome. The two American men will face their greatest challenges yet while working as conscripted Berber Intelligence agents. But even while outnumbered, and most likely outgunned, the former veteran EMT and resilient IT programmer will be armed with modern Earth know-how.

With nowhere else to go after losing her family, she joined an old friend in a street gang and found an unlikely home there. But unfortunately, tragedy is about to befall Nora. Grudges from the distant past and movements of shadowy organizations may take away everything she is familiar with and all that she holds dear...possibly even her life. Henry and Jason led normal lives in Seattle before they were abducted to another world. Their kidnapper, the vain, self-styled god Dolos, refuses to send them back unless they can accomplish an impossible task. Oddly, Dolos doesn't seem to care if they succeed or not. Luckily, Henry and Jason studied Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) on Earth. Unfortunately, a Japanese American EMT and a geeky IT programmer don't have many other useful skills on a sword-and-sorcery world like Ludus.

A lot had changed in "The Holy Sky" School during the six weeks that Hadjar Darkhan was away. Everyone who was in the capital at the time became much stronger, thanks to the regular skirmishes along the Imperial road. By the emperor's decree, all the disciples of the Imperial martial arts schools were allowed to visit the infamous and highly coveted Wastelands. "The Holy Sky's" disciples were especially fortunate - they'd been given a two-week head start to find the map leading to Emperor Decater's tomb, as well as the key that would allow them to enter his chambers.

Publisher's Summary
After helping save a country on Ludus from a demon invasion, Henry and Jason could use a break. Unfortunately, life moves on, and new problems will appear, especially for their friend, the new ruler of Berber. Being orb-bonded adventurers wielding powerful magic means they have the responsibility to do what others cannot.
Some members have left, and there will be new additions. The Delvers LLC team is solid. But while Henry creates new magi-tech and Jason perfects his deadly power, evil forces are gathering. The men from Earth had better enjoy what down time they have, because it’s not likely to last.
Events on Ludus and out among the rest of the universe are spiraling toward something terrible. Henry Sato, Jason Booth, and Nora Hazard might find themselves being drawn toward the center of the conflict, or knowing their luck, fall right into it.

don't buy till book 5 is out
i hate writing this review, but this book is not much of one...
after years of waiting we get what is essentially a layover...
it does a decent job of reminding us of who everyone is followed by BC manoeuvring the Delvers and Nora where he needs them to be for the next book as well as setting up the rest of the world...
this book has plenty of content, but very little substance.
I wouldn't be so upset if I didn't know that BC can do better than this, because the 5 star is only there for the Amazon algorithm, it is not earned on this books stand alone merit.
Jeff on the other hand does everything he can with what is given to him and he deserves praise for the result...
here's to hoping that BC gives us an actual Delvers book in 5 or I'm sad to say I might drop the series if this is what we should expect going forward...

This book can completely be cut from the series and you would miss nothing. Stretched out side quest and introspection. The enemy are mentioned, you meet a few Grisious briefly, no great accomplishments or revalations.

Delvers X Hazard
The weakest entry into the Delver series. I wish the author wrote a recap chapter for both Delvers and Hazard, but instead Hazard is just shoehorned in and we are expected to have read the Hazard series. The problem is that each of the author's series are so different from one another that they're not all going to resonate with everyone. So if you never read or even disliked hazard... good luck (shes basically a female version of Henry; blunt and an asshole, but without the humor and is kinda cringe).
outside of the hazard, the story feels more of a Delvers book 3.5. the book moves at a snales pace and more of a side story.

Thank Dolos - Nora is just a Side Character
I'm very glad the main story finally returned. I powered through the three Nora Hazard offshoot books before listening to this one so I wasn't left in the dark about that character's parts in this book. I hated all three of those books, and I'm very glad to be back on track with the main story.
Turns out, Nora's part in this book was relatively minor, and I didn't NEED to listen to her books. I wish I'd known that before I bothered, so I'm mentioning it here for others to know.
