Publisher's summary

A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

The stakes are personal, hot, and dangerous in New York Times bestselling author Susan Stoker's riveting Mountain Mercenaries novel.

As tough as Everly Adams may be, the Colorado Springs SWAT officer is near a breaking point. Her fifteen-year-old half sister, Elise, has disappeared from Los Angeles without a trace, and the window to find her is closing fast. Committed to the search is Mountain Mercenary Kannon "Ball" Black. He and Everly already have a history - of rubbing each other the wrong way.

Still, Everly has to admit the man is heart-stopping. His brash alpha swagger takes her breath away. And most importantly, as a former Coast Guard first responder, Ball has what it takes to bring Elise home.

Nobody's buying the LAPD's "runaway" theory. And the fear that Elise is the victim of a human trafficking ring is a gut-punch that Everly and Ball can't ignore. If only the trail were that clear cut. Because the one they're following is more insidious and intimately dark than they could have imagined.

Now as the bond between Everly and Ball grows stronger, so does the heat. And as the stakes rise, so does the danger.

This is the best series!

one of my favorite Susan Stoker series, and the narrators do an excellent job of bringing the characters to life! I love that Ro has a British accent.

Even a good story is a lousy story when the author can’t come up with an end to it!

What happened? Did the author’s brain just freeze in the last chapter? Or, did she think that “that” was truly an ending.
It appears to be the easy way out these days for authors and film writers to just quit…
That was half of a novel. Where is the ending? What a disappointment & weakness on the authors part‼️ What… did your house just catch fire or did some numbskull actually let you get away with submitting an unfinished manuscript?
This could have been a whole different review! But she blew it, big time! Nice beginning, interesting middle, but, 😏no completion!!!
Don’t bother wasting your time and money like I did‼️‼️ What a jip‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

A good Susan Stoker book

This was pretty good. I read the first time and then listened on audible.
The sex wasn't over the top. That was nice. I like a little plot in the book, I don't like when there are 20 chapters and 16 of them are sexchapters. I also like the h to have some backbone and not be sickeningly sweet. The h in this book is just right.
I really wonder how she is going to close this series out? Have to wait till March! Stella Bloom is a really good narrator.
Thanks Susan

One of my favorites

It has everything to make a great book. Loving family, a mystery, a “take no prisoners” couple, lol moments, a sort of enemies to lovers romance, plus some hot sex at the end. Stella Bloom is a fantastic narrator. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

Defending Everly

In this book in the Mountain Mercenaries Kannon, aka Ball, has been tasked to go to LA to find a missing female teenager. And he is not happy when he has to travel with her sister. Everly has to go with him. Her sister is deaf and no one around can sign. This trip has many eye opening events for both of them. His past actions with women has not been the best. And she has trust issues. Will they find her sister in time? Has she been targeted for sex trafficking Or is something else more sinister in play? The narration had me hooked to the very end. And am looking forward to the next.

sister

I enjoyed the narration of Stella Bloom

Everly and Ball do not get on at first. But having to work together to looking for Everly's sister Elsie. Elsie is deaf and as Everly understands sign language, also is a SWAT officer ,she is more than perfect for the task. Slowly the two of them start to let issues go. Ball finds himself learning a new language and how teenage girls think.
