Publisher's Summary
The capable, confident, and occasionally ruthless heroine of Daughter of the Pirate King is back in this action-packed audiobook sequel that promises rousing high seas adventures and the perfect dash of magic.
Alosa's mission is finally complete. Not only has she recovered all three pieces of the map to a legendary hidden treasure, but the pirates who originally took her captive are now prisoners on her ship. Still unfairly attractive and unexpectedly loyal, first mate Riden is a constant distraction, but now he's under her orders. And she takes great comfort in knowing that the villainous Vordan will soon be facing her father's justice.
When Vordan exposes a secret her father has kept for years, Alosa and her crew find themselves in a deadly race with the feared Pirate King. Despite the danger, Alosa knows they will recover the treasure first...after all, she is the daughter of the Siren Queen.
In Daughter of the Siren Queen, Tricia Levenseller brings together the perfect mix of thrilling action, tense battle scenes, and a heart-pounding romance.
Critic Reviews

WOW! This book is amazing!
I can’t even explain how much I love this book. The way Marisa Calin did the different voices for each of the characters really brought out their personalities and made me fall in love with them even more! From the fight scenes to the enemies to lovers romance, had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. At times, I wasn’t sure if I should cry or laugh. I loved reading about a strong female protagonist who was equally classy and ruthless. And her all-women crew was ahead of their time for sure, destroying any idea that women can’t be great pirates. Little Rosalind was my favorite! To have so much spunk at that age amazes me. If there’s another book, I would love to see her all grown up.
I don’t know if any audio book on this app could top that!

excellent!
First off the audible part: one of the best narrations I've heard honestly, particularly in the YA/NA genre. the narrator adds a lot of life and emotion without being over the top or excessive.
As for the book as a whole: Fab story! I'm utterly impressed with this duology! pirates aren't really my thing typically but this story pulled me in and kept me there. the main character doesn't fall for the typical trap of making a whole bunch of stupid choices. Instead she actually makes smart choices throughout which was so refreshing!
The male lead is refreshingly respectful and realistic. It's a pretty slow burn romance but the relationship is so healthy with emotional care and consent etc. something the YA/NA genre needs much more of!

Didn't Quite Meet Expectations
I liked Daughter of the Pirate King, despite there not being quite enough pirating. This book takes potential complexity of some characters and flattens them into paper. It's still a decent story, but the one surprise happens very early on and the rest of the book feels like fallout. Alosa and her crew are still interesting to follow in their adventures, but the plot and ending lack some of the complexity I was expecting and hoping for. #Adventure #FamilyDrama #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Expected more
Book 108 towards my goal of 125! 3.5/5 stars. I did like this book slightly more than the first. I guess I just expected more from the duology after all of the hype. I did enjoy reading about sirens and pirates. I personally would not recommend this duology. The narrator was very good, good tone and pacing. I feel like the narration added to the experience. #goodreadschallenge #popsugarchallenge #bookbattle

A Difficult Audio to Hear / Decent Story
This is a pretty good follow up to book one, but I was a bit lost at the beginning, as I couldn't remember who anyone was or what had actually happened in book one. None of the references were making any sense to me. That was partly poor planning on my part, but I didn't want to reread book one and didn't take time to read a recap. Oops.
Also, the audiobook volume was cued incredibly low, so I struggled to hear well at max volume no matter which headphones I used. As a result, I missed a lot of things and rewound a lot until I settled in. All of that impacted my overall view of the book, which may be partly why it got 4 stars.
I was settled in pretty well once I hit the midpoint, and I thought the last half was solid. This is a cute series.

Satisfactory conclusion to the couplet.
I didn't like the second part of the series as well as the first. It was just as cliche, and with less originality. That being said, I still tore through it with extreme speed. It keeps you interested. My favorite part was the addition of glimpses in the backstory of the crew.
Language was still moderate, but it did get a little steamy. Nothing explicit though. And quite a long of gruesome violence.

Yeah, I Really Like Pirates.
Such a wonderful sequel to an amazing first book.
If you haven’t watched a good pirate movie in a while but loved the excitement you felt when you first did- these books will leave you craving it.
Alosa is an interesting protagonist with some morally grey attributes which deserve respect. The whimsical parts of the plot are offset by some gritty diplomacy and downright amusing friendships and relationships. Not to mention, a roguish and emotionally available love interest with interest in a healthy relationship!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA for a bit of excitement or any adults looking for some fun and escapism!
