Publisher's summary

A new novel in the beloved New York Times best-selling Longmire series.

When Lolo Long's niece, Jaya, begins receiving death threats, Tribal Police Chief Long calls on Absaroka County Sheriff Walt Longmire along with Henry Standing Bear as lethal backup. Jaya Longshot Long is the phenom of the Lame Deer Lady Stars High School basketball team and is following in the steps of her older sister, who disappeared a year previously, a victim of the scourge of missing Native Woman in Indian Country. Lolo hopes that having Longmire involved might draw some public attention to the girl's plight, but with this maneuver, she also inadvertently places the good sheriff in a one-on-one with the deadliest adversary he has ever faced in both this world and the next.

Ending Was Disappointing

The story was fine. I thoroughly enjoy Craig Johnson’s books and George Guidall’s narration. The ending is definitely a “tune in next time” finish. I don’t think that’s cool when the next book won’t be published for another year.

Craig Johnson Enchants, Educates, Entertains

Longmire and Standing Bear and an unusual variety of participants present realities and complexities of Native life, a satisfying if disturbing mystery, lessons about teamwork, and an exciting basketball game or two.

George Guidall provides another brilliant performance, effortlessly giving voice to a dizzying number of characters.

So Good. Enough Said.

This one was so good. I loved it. I'm a big fan of Craig Johnson and the Longmire novels and TV show, and DotMS is another well done work. Definitely recommended.

Good story, narration difficult

Maybe it was the sound editing but George Guidall’s voice often sank so low as to be “unreadable,” especially at the end of sentences. I had to reverse often and continually change my volume. Also his articulation was somewhat sloppy- I slowed the speed a bit which helped to make his words more understandable. He has always been the voice of Walt Longmire, so it’s hard to say what the solution would be if there is another novel to come in the series… I still enjoyed this.
