Nearly killed while trying to win back his ancestral home, Black Richard MacCullough is left scarred and mangled; but some scars run far deeper than mere skin. No longer the handsome devil or kind man of his youth, now he focuses solely on rebuilding everything that was lost to the brutal Chisolms and traitorous MacRays. Revenge - while not nearly as important as keeping his clan from starving - is the only thing that keeps his bruised heart beating.

Story
Lord Nathaniel Harte, the disagreeable duke of Beswick, spends his days smashing porcelain, antagonizing his servants, and snarling at anyone who gets too close. With a ruined face like his, it's hard to like much about the world - especially smart-mouthed harpies (with lips better suited to kissing than speaking) who brave his castle with indecent proposals. But Lady Astrid Everleigh will stop at nothing to see her younger sister safe from a notorious scoundrel, even if it means offering herself up on a silver platter to the forbidding Beast of Beswick himself.

After receiving a frantic letter from her newly-wed cousin begging for someone to save her from a mysterious doom, Noemí Taboada heads to High Place, a distant house in the Mexican countryside. She’s not sure what she will find - her cousin’s husband, a handsome Englishman, is a stranger, and Noemí knows little about the region. Noemí is also an unlikely rescuer: She’s a glamorous debutante, and her chic gowns and perfect red lipstick are more suited for cocktail parties than amateur sleuthing. gothic historical romance
This was such an interesting book. I love that it was a historical romance. I feel like having a dream "lover" is something I have read before but in modern times. So that made it different and interesting because I love historical romances so much. This book was dark and also funny at times and that made for such an enjoyable book!
Narration was good! I loved the voice she gave to Isoline.

So Good!
Dangerous Passions took me by complete surprise. First, I was immediately caught up in Amber Bray's voice. She was perfection. Don't be surprised if I buy every audiobook that she narrates because she was that amazing to listen to. She has historical romance on lock. I loved her accent and it made feel like I was swept back in time. Her voice was lovely and melodic. I could never get enough. I already want to relisten to this one. The story was really good. I definitely enjoyed Dangerous Passions. I liked the main character Isoline and the story all around was interesting a bit mysterious. I had a good time listening to this story and how things turn out in the end. It was so satisfying if not a little crazy. I have Leigh Anderson on my radar and I will definitely be picking up another book by her.

Regency Romance with a touch of Paranormal
I’m not that fond of regency romance with all the rules of courtship, family reputations, chaperones, blah blah blah... but this catches me pretty fast with the real live dreams and the man she cannot see. I was disappointed in the lack of sexual tension or sexual anything, really other than her virginal deflowering. Even that was anti-climatic, no pun intended.
Many parts of the story tend whiz by fast, like Isoline's engagement and the ending of it. Other parts seemed longer than necessary, like Isoline’s time spent looking for a governess job, waiting for her father’s decision. The dreams had no consistency in time or message throughout the book. There’s enough action and movement and drama that kept me interested. I was able to guess the dream man’d identity, and paranormal hints began in the second half but didn’t emerge fully until the end.
Amber Bray did an excellent job with narration.

VERY INTERESTING STORY
Very interesting story of different times when women born into families were a commodity to be traded at the whim of the men folk leading with an iron fist.
Combine that outrageous behaviour with a creature thought to only live in fairytales and horror stories and then throw copious amounts of money and plots of greed . This long story kept my attention until the last word. The narrator spoke with the plum in her mouth, in terms expected of the times that was totally appropriate. Although l scored 5 stars there were several repeated words/phrases that the narrator needs to attend to.

It was quite good but I expected more...
First things first, I'll try to avoid spoilers, so what follows may sound a bit vague or confusing...:) So, here it is:
The premise of the book sounded intriguing - haunting dreams, unwanted suitors, dark mysteries... It felt almost gothic. But, while the book has its moments, it is also a bit disappointing...
The beginning of the story is good, it engages you and makes you want to know what will happen to Isoline at her Aunt's place - a secluded castle full of mysteries, with not one but two suitors, each one being the complete opposite of the other, not to mention the vivid dreams that were the reason for our heroine to find herself in the predicament she's in... But along the way the mystery, the feeling of something ominous hanging in the air, of the danger lurking in the fog are either completely lost or start to feel forced,.. And some things that happen seem to be there only as an attempt to revive the "gothic mystery" feel... I also have to admit that while I liked Isoline at the beginning of the tale, I really lost heart for her somewhere in the middle of the book - she just started to irritate me more and more with her immature, hysterical reactions to everything... She is supposedly quite an intelligent woman who has read Decartes and other philosophers yet she acts like an emotionally unstable teenager...
But, with all this said, there are quite a few good scenes in the book, emotionally engaging the reader/listener and we do want to know why things happen the way they happen; we want to learn the reasons behind the main characters' behaviour, so overall it's not a bad book at all. I'd say - give it a chance and see whether you'll like it or not...
As for the narration by Ms Bray, it's generally quite good. Most of the voices are nicely done, the male ones especially (it's a nice surprise - it's usually quite difficult for female narrators to do male voices really well:)), and I liked the pace of her reading. I deducted stars mainly for one reason - I really started to hate Isoline's voice after the first two hours; she sounded irritatingly hysterical all the time, with her high pitched voice adding to her overemotional dialogue...

Period Romance Paranormal
The first of the book is a little slow but it picks up. One of problems I had with this book was the fake British accent of the narrator. The second thing was the story of the two main characters it could have been more involved and spicy earlier on in the book. I will look into this authors other books because I love a good Romantic Paranormal book.

Dangerous Passions
The secrets that seem to be connected to Thornrush Manor will have you guessing until the end. Isoline Beresford father sends her away after she calls off her engagement. He is both ashamed and disappointed in her. Her father thinks if she can get in good with her 90-year-old grand-aunt, the Dowager Countess Bellamira Granville and become her heir, then that is the only way to make amends. But from the moment she arrives things are off and Isoline starts trying to make sense of it all. Great job on the narration for weeks after listening to this I could still her Isoline, Isoline. Dangerous Passions
This is PRN romance. It had me just from the blurb. Isoline keeps having dreams about a man she doesn't know/. The suspense of finding out who he is, where he is, why is he coming to her in her dreams, etc. It kept me on my toes and I couldn't stop till the end. The book was very well written with great visualization.
The narration by Amber Bray was excellent. She has an alluring voice, combined with the great visualization of the writer, brings each character to life.
