The last thing Gillian Metcalf remembers before she passes out is being aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, where she witnesses a dog disappearing as if it were a phantom. So how did she end up in 1870 and in a man's room aboard the Ida Belle, traveling down the Mississippi?

Zachary Creighton, a gambler with one goal: to win back Creighton Manor. Marriage is not part of the plan, but since he is found with Gillian in his room, reputations are at stake, his included. To keep peace with his reluctant bride, he makes a bargain with her. He needs a tutor for his nephew Tyler, and she needs a roof over her head until they can annul their sham of a marriage. However, Zachary finds himself falling for Gillian's oddly charming ways despite the fact the woman claims to be from the future.

The gamble is trust, but will the stakes prove too high for Zachery to risk it all and win Gillian's heart?

This is a story about a young lady named Gillian who finds herself on a River Boat in 1870 instead of the Queen Mary in the present time. She is transported to a Stateroom on this River Boat that belongs to a Gambler named Zachary. Before she knows what is happening, they are discovered together and he has to claim marriage to Gillian to save his reputation. She goes along with it due to the fact that she had been dropped into a world she knows nothing about. Even though they are both in undesirable situations, they find themselves falling in love with each other. The story was well told with a great Narration job. I received this listen for free in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank you!

I did not expect to fall in Love!

Gillian has traveled back in time to 1870 and meets Zachary.. neither have marriage in mind, however, to save their reputation, they marry..
This is a great time travel story (which I love) and it has a few twists and turns along the way which keeps in interested.
Sometimes the narration seemed like someone was just reading the book, but since I liked the story so much, I overlooked it.

Good Time Travel story

Adult situation too much ,not to my liking. The plot for the time travel was good.

I loved this story, especially the quirky dog who left me with so many questions.

Well written to story grew me in and held me hostage, there was a lot going on with the two time periods and the surprising connections. Everything was interwoven between the characters and the different times, it's really well done.

Great writing, the characters and the story are vivid and compelling.

I enjoyed the narration, the character voices are well done, the accents are interesting but I can't comment on how realistic they are or aren't. The delivery could have used some more variation, it was a little flat.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

This book was such a good listen that I barley realized I had almost listened straight through but I just couldn't stop listening. It's a romance that you really don't think it's going to end happy. I loved the story, and the fact it was time travel, it gave the story the extra twist. I did receive this book free for a review, I would defiantly have paid it's such a good romance book.

Enjoyable Romance
