Excellent Western Romance!

I LOVED this story! The romance is very well developed and the sexual tension was hot! The story and the narration were both passionate, intense and very interesting. I can't believe that the rest of the series is not available. Please add more books by this author!!!

The Rancher and the Medium - Hot Stuff!!!

Sylvia Mc Daniel conjured up a story that makes us laugh, cry and empathise with Desiree/Rose as she struggles to make a life for herself in spite of her chaotic upbringing. She's feisty and no nonsense and can stand up for herself, until Travis appears.

Travis is all for family and is so attracted to Rose but cannot entirely trust her. His Mom wants grandchildren and to see her boys married and settled, so she will stop at nothing to make that a reality and runs a scam to entice the two main characters into getting to know each other. It's a cause for mayhem and chaos in the lives of the characters, but the story is funny, with lots of laughs and all's well that ends well.

The supporting characters are well thought out and the plot thickens as the story emerges. Once you start listening you just want to continue to the end.
This book was superbly written and I recommend it to other readers and listeners.

I look forward to what else Sylvia McDaniel has to share, as this book is a 'keeper' and favourite. Really great reading.

Listening to Robin Rowan was a wonderful experience as she portrayed the various characters via her voice. I'm impressed. You go girl.

Travis can give an aristocrat lessons

A mostly sweet old west romance. I liked Desiree/Rose. She is a young woman alone in an era of few prospects, most of them unsavory. But she has found a way to survive, until Travis stomps into her life. Talk about an arrogant, judgmental man! He could give any aristocrat lessons. All in the name of "protecting his family." Gave interest to the story though. Oh, let's not forget Eugenia, the meddling mother. Her machinations stirred things up nicely. Add in a talented narrator, Robin Rowan, and this was an enjoyable listen.

The Best!!!

This is the first story I have read/listened to of Sylvia McDaniel and am thrilled to have come upon this series! She is now on my always read/ listen to audible author!!
Humor, suspense, intense attraction and everything I love in a western historical romance! I enjoyed every word and the story was perfect that had me listening every second. The narration by Robin Rowan was perfect with her different infections of characters and she was right on the mark all the way through!
I cannot wait to listen to the rest of this series and trust me, you do not want to miss this one!!

Loved it!

Great storyline and good chemistry between the characters. Lots of laughs and steam and was fun to see that mom’s interfering goes way back in time.

Stubborn meets his match

This is a different twist to books. Travis irritated me as he would not listen possibly due to being a mama's boy. He is honest, demands honesty from others. Mother is a mischievous matcgmaker, wants to see family happy and married. Mother fight for Rose. Rose is an orphan, on her own since 18, an honest conartist. That being a way for her to survive. Rose has a backbone and not afraid to tell Travis off.

HOOKED ON THIS AUTHOR!

THE RANCHER TAKES A BRIDE is the first book in the Burnett Brides series. It would be best to read them in the order of release.

This was the first book I have “read” from this author and I am hooked! I loved it! When I first started reading romance books way back when I was a teenager – those old bodice rippers with Fabio on the front of most of them – the westerns weren’t like this!

Rose/Desiree is no shrinking violet waiting for someone to tell her how to live her life. She has a plan. She kept me giggling as she worked to get through to Travis so that she could get on with her life. Of course, I was also cheering as they worked towards her finding out that that life plan could be changed to include him.

Note: while I was given this book as an Audible gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

A wonderful experience

Where does The Rancher Takes a Bride rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the first audible book for me. I received a complimentary copy from the author. I love to read but I spend way too much time on the couch reading. I listened to this story while I was out walking. It sure made the exercise so much more tolerable. I definitely loved this story. It was easy to get lost in it.

What other book might you compare The Rancher Takes a Bride to and why?

I read a lot of westerns and love them all. Too hard to compare.

What about Robin Rowan’s performance did you like?

Wow!!! She sure did a fantastic job. As mentioned earlier, this is my first audible book. I just thought someone read to you. Her inflictions for the different voices was amazing. I was very impressed with her ability.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would it to exercise with (as I hate to exercise!) it sure made the time fly by and got me motivated to walk so I could listen to more of the story.

Any additional comments?

This was a fantastic book to start with. I just adored the story.

Love the story

The story is great. The performance was good. Only struggle was getting used to a softer man's voice from the narrator. But didn't take away from the story.

Great Western Romance!

I so enjoy listening to a well performed book where the narrator is able to have so many distinguishable voices for the various characters that are fitting, along with the right emotions to convey the scene and conversations. The banter was well done too! I have read some books by this talented author and enjoy her style. Robin Rowan is a new to me narrator whom I will definitely look for in the future.
I thought the author did great with the imagery in this book and the details were fitting of the times. The story moved along well and is a standalone listen. I am not a fan of cliffhanger books, and this is not one. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.
