Acerca de esta escucha

Nate, a Yankee-turned-Confederate, finds his loyalties tested at the Battle of Ball's Bluff, 1862

It is the summer of 1862 and the Northern army is threatening to capture Richmond, the Confederate capital. Bloodied but victorious at the battles of Ball's Bluff and Seven Pines, Nate suddenly finds himself accused of being a Yankee spy. Proving his innocence and finding the real spy will require courage and endurance rarely seen even in the brutal fog of war. Failure could mean the fall of Richmond and a career-ending defeat for Robert E. Lee.

Instantly was pulled into the story and my interest never faulted. Ready for the next book.

Wonderfully developed characters that I wanted to know more and more about.

While the story is interesting it takes a while to develop the characters. Hard to k ow if anything is historically correct.

Takes a while

As an American that has read most of Cornwell's European works, it's interesting to see his take on an American event. As a Northerner myself, I love how he takes the reader and entrenches them on the losing side, and gets you pulling for them. Looking forward to seeing how he ends the series!

Not Cornwell's greatest work, but still entertaining.

Again, another British narrator with terrible American accents and bad acting to boot. The narrator’s portrayal of an overzealous character, for example, sounds like Bram Stoker’s Renfield having a normal conversation with important figures at a meeting to decide the fate of the Confederate army. Nobody seems to notice he sounds like a seething, raving lunatic. In short, the narration is distracting to the point that it almost ruins the story.

Another good story by Cornwell.

As per usual , Cornwell has given us wonderful characters to cheer for. Excited for the next title.

Great story

The story gives a true feeling of the difficulties that men faced in deciding to follow their conscience or the loyalty to family and friends. The reality of the horrors of battle are laid plan.

Characters where marvelous
