Publisher's summary

As a string of unexplained attacks push superpowers to the brink, the clock is ticking toward the start of World War III.

Don Riley, head of the CIA’s Emerging Threats Group, has never seen anything like this.

Riley and his team are tasked with identifying national security threats before they become tomorrow’s bad news. But shortly after an Iranian vessel delivers a surprise attack to a US Navy Warship in the Arabian Gulf, a series of seemingly unrelated attacks crop up around the globe.

The US military is rapidly being drawn into full-fledged shooting wars on multiple fronts. Now Riley must sift through the layers of deception in time to discover who — or what — is behind these events....

...before the clock reaches zero hour.

Command and Control is the explosive first book in a brand new series co-written by former submarine officer, David Bruns, and retired naval intelligence officer, J.R. Olson. “A fascinating World War Three scenario, and an action-packed story. This is going to be an amazing series!” (Andrew Watts, USA Today best-selling author of The War Planners)

Command and Control is a masterpiece of a military thriller from the first page to the explosive ending…some of the best combat writing I’ve seen since Tom Clancy.” (Jason Kasper, USA Today best-selling author of The Enemies of My Country)

"Bruns and Olson deliver an action packed story from the first to the very last page. Torn from tomorrow’s headlines, loaded with intrigue and mystery, a must read for any fan of military techno-thrillers." (George Wallace, author of Warshot and Operation Golden Dawn)

If you like Clancy...

If you like Tom Clancy books, you're going to like this one. A little less detailed than a Clancy book but it rivals Clancy in timing, plot and boy the twist near the end I never saw coming.

Where is the hero?

This book had no hero. No central character. In fact there was very little character development at all. Wasn't to my taste

Fun new story

Enjoyed the book. Fast paced. Too realistic if anything. Can't wait to start book 2.

Story line good but…

I liked the story and reader as it kept your attention. The area that I feel is weak is the use of AI. Clearly of USA had that level of AI the limited use of same in book makes no sense as it would have resolved the other issues

GREAT!

Loved it. Couldn't turn it off. The followup is going to have a hard time beating the original.

Good story, pretty relevant

Interesting premise, relevant to many current worldwide events. Some main players are thinly veiled world leaders.

Half an excellent novel

3.5 stars.

This book is perhaps half of an absolutely excellent techno-thriller. Excellent situation and plot, good politics, very strong military element, and pretty good characterization.

Unfortunately, it ends at about the end of act 2.

I'll probably continue the series eventually, because what's here is well done, but the ending detracts from the book significantly.

Like the book

Enjoyed the whole thing, command and control maybe ,you better read it to see if the author hit a home run or a lined out foul. I recommend it and that should be enough.

compelling plot, lots of intrigue, and excellent narration. As good as any Tom Clancy novel. Can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Disjointed

Too many incidents to keep track of. Too much of a cliff hanger at the end. Writing was very good.
