Malfi crafts a well-orchestrated mystery that leaves the reader guessing right up until the conclusion. As we join Aaron Decker on his journey of discovery, we're left reeling with each new revelation alongside the protagonist, forced to question how well we ever know someone and how dark the depths of one's character might be.
Joe Hempel's narration of the audiobook is superb, and he captures the confusion, fear, and frustration Aaron feels as he persists in his fool's quest to solve a mystery Allison may have already solved before she was tragically unable to fulfill her life's mission.

Couldn't stop listening!

This was one of those books that I found myself sitting in my car in the driveway listening to the end of the chapter. Great story and well-written. Suspenseful and mildly spooky at times. Worth a credit!

Meh Narrator Ruins It

Couldn't finish. Narrator is monotone. Really wanted to hear this one, darn it. Maybe other people won't feel this way so it's worth a shot!

excellent narrator

kept my interest thru out, cant say enough about the narrator. I listen to many audio books every week. it is rare to get lost in the story and not even notice the change in male to female voices. I will be looking for more books narrated by Joe Hempel.

One of my favorites on audible for performance, story, and writing style! I would definitely listen to more books by the author and narrator.

Didn't Know Where This One Was Going

This is the first Ronald Malfi book I have listened to, and I really liked it. It's a good story and keeps your interest and leaves you having no idea how it's going to end. Now I am binge listening this author and on my fourth Malfi book. I can't stop. His writing is so similiar to Stephen King's that I'm hooked. He's a very talented writer.

Not what I expected…

I was hoping, based upon the summary, something more like Black Mouth-an awesome scary story. However, this is a murder mystery with some pretty weird stuff like 2 people living in one person, multi-dimensional oddities, a “gas head” legend that really had no true anchor of a tie in, and some major discrepancies. While I admire the writer for his dedication to his real-life friend in writing this, it was just to weird for me. Plus the narrator does a very poor job of voices. Made it hard to tell at times who was talking. This writer composes well, but this story missed the mark for me.

Pick up where your love leaves off

There are different ways of mourning, this is an interesting one. The journey of our main character is an enlightening one, finding out that you don't always know the person you love is not new. The twist and turns, wow we are there with him and without giving away too much you will have to decide if the journey was worth it.

Excellent book! I loved the supernatural twists and turns and the mystery to be solved. Truly a page turner !
