State Road 177 runs along the Suwannee River, between Fargo, Georgia, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Drive that route from east to west, and you'll cross six bridges. Take it from west to east, and you might find seven. But you'd better hope not. Titus and Melanie Bell leave their hotel in Fargo for a second honeymoon canoeing the Okefenokee Swamp. But shortly before they reach their destination, they draw up to a halt at the edge of a rickety bridge with old stone pilings, with room for only one car....

When, much later, a tow-truck arrives, the driver finds Titus lying in the middle of the road, but Davina is nowhere to be found.

the cousins are great weird old characters. the story takes interesting turns. fun gothic horror

Narrator really brought this story to life

This was a different take on the local monster tale and I really liked it, but the narration enhanced the story and made it my favorite listen this year. Each character was well defined and recognizable from the others. Kudos!!

No lull in the story line

I truly enjoyed the book. It flowed so well. I would read it again. wow

Southern Gothic Entertainment

Fantastic storyline with witty dialogue keeps you engaged and entertained throughout. I could have listened to a sequel easily with these characters. The character dialogue was distinctive and sounded truly southern (native to Mississippi and Texas...hard to imitate that accent).

Great Narrator!!

Love the southern draw and different characters. Good story line. I would recommend for a good scary story.

The Southern Gothic is alive and well

This story was well written and well narrated. The acceptance that things are what they are is a unique spin on the ghosts and ghouls storytelling genre. The majority of the story was a build, but it made the climax that much more anticipated and exciting. The narrator did a great job build the suspense.
My only criticism with the book is the lack of character development. That's not to mean that the characters weren't developed, but the amount of depth provided could have been built on. Still, overall, an enjoyable listen.

Loved it

As far as the story it was good but nothing jaw dropping. The narrator was amazing! Some of the characters were really funny and made me laugh. The narrators delivery was spot on. I would listen to anything he narrates if he is always this good

Great characters

As others have said the two old cousins are hilarious. By far the best part of the story.

Do yourself a favor and just listen/read. Just do it, you won’t regret it. This is the kind of story that will keep you listening and you’ll be sad when real life makes you hang it up for a while, you’ll be itching to press play again when you’re done work or whatever task keeping you from listening. It’s that kind of story. A rare gem ♥️

The narration….

The story was good, but the narration was phenomenal. You would think you were listening to a handful of different narrators, but it’s just one very talented man.
