I wish I’d read the reviews…

I read this book many years ago and loved it. In fact I love all of the authors works.
I’ve been waiting over a year for the audible version and was so thrilled when it was finally available. However, I wish I would’ve read the reviews first because as soon as the story started I was disappointed!
I can certainly respect the narrator’s talent but she was not the best pick for this work. Shanna is supposedly a 19 year old girl and I felt like I was listening to Angela Lansbury tell a story. Why in the world would the author chose an obviously older narrator?! I also feel like the story would’ve read better in dual narration with a male counterpart as there were a lot of different male characters.
I finished it because I paid for it and loved the original story but, for me, it was just “ok.”
I learned my lesson and will read the listener reviews going forward.

Loved the book but the narrator is way too old sounding!! I so wish they picked another one

Excellent book - poor narration!

I love this book! I have read it many times since it was released in the seventies and I was so looking forward to to listening to it since I pre-ordered it in January of 2022. The story is still great; however, the reader really messed it up. I do not understand why narrators think they should attempt to

I first read this book in the early eighties. it seems much less exciting. I guess getting old dies tgat.

That was amazing!

Shanna has been my favorite story for over 35 years. I have read the book numerous times and was skeptical about the audio book, but it was great! I loved every minute of it and I know I’ll definitely be listening to it again.

The writing of the story. Very good author. Audible reading did the story justice.

Wrong narrator for the content!

This is a book I have loved, since I was a teenager and have read numerous times over the years. I was so excited when I saw it in audible and decided to purchase that version. The story is as good as always, but the narrator is completely wrong for this content, These are young lovers and it sounds like it’s being read by a very much older woman. Additionally cringe when she tries to do the men’s voices. As excited as I was to find it I am just as disappointed trying to listen to the narrator!

Excellent narrator!

This is my favorite romance novel of all time. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing this special book to life. I couldn’t stop listening to it.

Great voice over and superb writing

I have registered several times to this story. Great characters and well-researched plot/resolution. very enjoyable.

Horrible Narrator

This book used to be one of my favorites, but after listening to this narrator, it’s been tarnished for me. Her tone and inflection was just wrong in my point of view, and the way she pronounced the male character‘s name drove me crazy.
