Ugggg Shanna at 70?

How many years have we waited for this on Audible?? The narrator is terrible! The men all have peculiar accents not English not Irish some strange mixture. And Shanna…. Oh my Gosh she is portrayed as a old 70 year old lady not a young, energetic, willful 20 something. Angry, Rude and Haughty. Such a disappointment. Where is Stevie Zimmerman or Mary Jane Wells!!!

butchered my favorite book

whoever chose the narrators for all these books has never read them. we get either accomplished grandmothers or inept readers. they had one shot at this and sadly they failed. shanna is an old shrew and roo ark is a doddering dandy. wth? waited so long for this?

the story is great if you can drown out her voices. i love it when a narrator takes a book to a new level but sadly this isn’t it.

ps it’s beauchamp not beachum. HE isn’t english.

Best advise to Audible

Recall the book and reissue with new narrators. The one sounds like she’s reading for a grade B Hollywood horror movie. The new narrators can correct the erroneous pronunciations and garbled spewing. The forward was brilliant and much needed, but not for every Katherine E. Woodiwiss book.

Don’t waste your time or money

Definitely not Woodiwess best. One erotic chapter after another. No significant plot or engaging storyline. I couldn’t bring myself to finish it b

Still a great story

I was an avid reader of KEW from back in the day; I read Shanna when it first came out. As with her other novels, it is an epic tale, where you really get to know the characters and read through trials, troubles, and tribulations. It wasn’t one of her best, but I still enjoy it. I love Ruark and many of the other characters. The thing that keeps this from being a 5 star is Shanna is such a spoiled, horrible, brat for most of the book. Some of her actions were reprehensible and honestly I wanted to slap her. As with many heroines of the same ilk, she grew and became better. Once she became more likable the story was wonderful. It takes a long time - more than half way through, though, before that happens.

If you like KEW or epic, sweeping romances give it a go! Don’t let Shanna’s character in the beginning dissuade you because the rest - and the latter third - make up for it.
