Unfortunately, Prince Valkovsky has plans for Alyosha's future and those plans don't include Natasha. The prince sets out to destroy his son's relationship so that he can see him safely married to the wealthy heiress, Katya. Will love endure or will the evil prince get his way?
The Insulted and Injured was released in 1861 and is Fyodor Dostoevsky's first major novel after his Siberian exile. Influenced by authors such as Charles Dickens and Edgar Allan Poe, Dostoevsky would become one of the most widely read Russian authors of the 19th century.

This gloomy book is written in the form of letters exchanged between two cousins, Makar Devushkin and Varvara Dobroselova, who live on the same street in a shockingly deprived part of St. Petersburg Russia. Makar is a lowly clerk, who is being bullied at work and lives in the screened-off corner of someone else's kitchen and Varvara has taken in sewing as a means of avoiding falling into prostitution to make money. Their friendship is touching and sentimental, but it begins to suffer.

Fun
very entertaining! the love triangle is disappointing, but it's a very theatrical/dramatic book with one dimensional characters which actually makes the book more fun to read and listen to.
Essentially it's gossip, who doesn't like that?

Again a great novel by Dostoyevski
The best writer ever

I have read almost all his novels - some many times

Sad and true to life
This is a heart-wrenching piece out of the lives of several people with no real closure or happy ending or anything like that, but the experience is Meaningful and poignant.

such a tedious plot
Nothing special, a long tedious plot, with no surprises

The Narrator is terrible but the story is great.
The intonation of the narrator’s voice is an a front to senses and the dynamics of the music which is this excellent work. However, it wasn’t so bad I couldn’t stomach it. The book is really very good and has an exceptional ending that is very powerful. A bit melodramatic at times, but overall a great work. Freddy D. Does it again!
