Fantastic story that is timeless!

Tarzan of the apes is a timeless story that lives through the ages! The fact that this novel was written in 1912 and is still amazing and thrilling 2017 speaks to the greatness of ER Burroughs. The story is great and leaves you wanting more.

Like being a kid again.

I am a Edgar Rice Bourghs fan. I totally enjoyed hearing this story rather than reading it or watching a movie. I could get into the feel of story more and really loved it.

Narration is choppy but ok.

All in a good read for the price. Production quality suffered from poor editing, choppy and broken at times.

incredible

this is truly the type of story I hope for in all books I either read or listen to... I can say the ending up set me but the book enthralled me so I love it deeply and hope it will continue to rise to the top of the cream of books. Everyone should read it despite the raseis nature that is terrible but could be over come by adult hood and understanding of horrible behavior that happened in that time period... racial warfare was in it's most prolific period... regarding less of that I am of the opinion that this story is incredible and very much wonderful

Great story. Wonderful details.

We listened to this as a family. We could not turn it off. It made the long car rides so enjoyable.

The story is wonderful.

The reading style was a bit abrupt but the storytelling wasn't bland and it was easy enough to emmerse into the story. There is also a bad splice in chapter 20 where a couple minutes repeat. Well worth it for the price.

The story is cool, the Narrator it was atrocious

I've always wanted to read this book, but never found the time. It is not what you see in the movies. There's a lot of fun listening to it, seeing the differences of what I've seen before. I can see how this became such a popular series back in the day.

Warning: Alan Munro is a horrid narrator pausing at the wrong times, his accents are terrible, he sounds like a computer more than a person. Get a different version of this. Without him being the narrator!
You have been warned! This is my second book with him, they're both this bad, and I've read both of the books!

The ending is very abruptl

But I guess Burroughs understood the idea of a sequel.
After all these years of Tarzan movies and TV shows, it was nice to read the original.
Good story. Poor narrator.

Difficult to get over the reading

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this version as the reading is extremely distracting. It appears as if the narrator did not understand the work. The reading is disjointed, there are bizarre and inappropriate pauses and stresses that are out of context. In addition, some words are mis-pronounced.
I understand that nobody is perfect, especially me, but I would expect the production team, or someone, to have picked this up.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alan Munro’s performances?

Definitely not. This performance had a hugely detrimental effect on my enjoying and even understanding the story.

Did Tarzan of the Apes inspire you to do anything?

I would purchase more Tarzan stories.
