Publisher's Summary

"Who is John Galt?" is the immortal question posed at the beginning of Ayn Rand's masterpiece. The answer is the astonishing story of a man who said he would stop the motor of the world and did.

As passionate as it is profound, Atlas Shrugged is one of the most influential novels of our time. In it, Rand dramatizes the main tenets of objectivism, her philosophy of rational selfishness. She explores the ramifications of her radical thinking in a world that penalizes human intelligence and integrity.

Part mystery, part thriller, part philosphical inquiry, part volatile love affair, Atlas Shrugged is the book that confirmed Ayn Rand as one of the most popular novelists and most respected thinkers of the 20th century.

A regular relisten for sure.

If you could sum up Atlas Shrugged in three words, what would they be?

Strive + Command Absolutely

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I appreciate Francisco the most. A man who had it all, and could have taken the easy way out, but made more sacrifice than any other to bring about the change he wanted to see in the world.

Which character – as performed by Edward Herrmann – was your favorite?

No standouts, it was performed well, but it is a narration, not a radio show style format.

If you could take any character from Atlas Shrugged out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Wyatt Ellis. I appreciate a man who will burn his life's work to the ground when its called for.

Any additional comments?

Great Book for any up and comer who still believes in succeeding on your own merit. Should be required reading for every 18-21 year old.

Good story

Really enjoyed the book but I bet the full version is even better. Perfect example of a future where individualism & private property is considered evil & what happens when a government regulates everything for the greater good.

Absolutely Fantastic - A great Audible book!

This is wonderful Abridged version of Atlas Shrugged. The narration is fantastic. The narrator's expertise helps in distinguishing between all of the characters. I believe this book is a MUST READ for everyone, not matter beliefs, religion, etc. Hands down one of the best stories that I read. It is amazing to me that this book was written in 1957 as it is more relevant today than it was back then.

Most enjoyable way to go through atlas shrugged

I have since childhood held the desire of reading this book one day. However, the enormous length of this book, kept me from getting at it. Then it struck me to try audible and found this version. The reviews and sample audio clips looked promising. And the audio book lived upto it! Mr. Hermann wonderfully though his story telling brings all the characters to life and makes this story most enjoyable!
