Not Lights Out…but that’s ok!

Lights Out was my very first Nessa Allen read and I absolutely loved it. So when Caught Up was announced, I was super stoked. I waited for it with so much anticipation… and I was not disappointed.

I’d seen a lot of reviews from people feeling let down because they were expecting a direct Ali and Josh sequel. Personally, I think Ali and Josh already had their story , it wrapped up and made space for new characters in this book. Caught Up focuses on Aly’s cousin Nico and his love interest, Lauren. I’ll leave it at that so it’s not spoiled.

If you go into this expecting a copy-and-paste of Josh and Aly’s relationship, you might be disappointed. While it has a similar vibe to Lights Out, it’s also very different — and I’m totally okay with that. I enjoyed the fresh elements, the new dynamics, and the nostalgia of seeing Aly and Josh make appearances.

The narrators absolutely killed it and made the experience even better. Nessa has a hit on her hands, and I wish more people would give it a chance for what it is, not dismiss it just because it’s not Lights Out.

Female lead sucks

I loved all the characters but Lauren. I don’t find anything about her to like. Jr and all others made me finish the book. He is everything!!

I continue to love this series. I didn’t expect to love Nico but he surprised me. I cannot wait for the next installment.

Drama between main characters feels forced

Overall a good book with palpable attraction and spicy sex, though I felt the conflict between the two mains felt forced/rushed to drive the storyline. I did appreciate the trans inclusion with the friend Ryan.

So Funny

This was funny and had me giggling in my car by myself. I probably looked crazy.

Not as good as the first one.

Felt rushed, kinda wanted more backstory for them. Felt like it was all about the club and smutty bits

Good story

First off the female lead irritated me to no end. Junior deserved so much better. She always thought the worst and never believed in him. But anyways I loved Junior 😍 and Teddy did him justice. I wish Junior had a different woman to love him but hey it is what it is.

Quirky

One of the few books that had me burst out laughing at spots. This is book had me hooked from the first chapter and wishing I could read it again for the first time. the Story was great and I do like how they both explor the others passions and interests.

Loved this book the connection the couple had and how they loved each other since little kids was amazing
