Publisher's summary

Gideon calls me his angel, but he's the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn't sure I was strong enough to bear.

At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we'd worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we'd had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream...

Rollercoaster Ride

I am unsure on how to rate this book. I really liked the book but I am emotionally drained from listening to it. I was so invested in the characters and the story line and the hits kept on coming. I am trying to be objective considering the fact that it is the 4th in a 5 book series so I knew there would be no satisfaction at the end.
The books spans over a 3 week period in their relationship so it can't be resolved. If you understand the process of healing from sexual abuse you will get what she was getting at. She needed to develop that side of Gideon POV and that process is emotional and difficult to get through. Having said that, the Brett Kline thing was disappointing and I wish it would have been left out.
If you are invested in this series , you will enjoy this book but please be prepared for the roller coaster ride and understand that is purely character development and no significant advances in the storyline.
So in a direct appeal to Silvia Day. If you are at all reading your reviews. Thank you for showing the male perspective of a sexual abuse survivor and the consequences if you have not dealt with it. But please ........... for book # 5 let them both find their strength and claim their life. Finish their story line where it was worth for us to invest 3 years into this series. Skip the cookie cutter way out and span it over a few years not just weeks. If there ever was an extensive Happy Ending needed it would be in this series. Considering the time investment of the readers. I sincerely hope to see "One with you"published within a few months. Not years!!

The dual narration by Jill Redfield , Jeremy York was good. But Jill Redfield was so good with the delivery of the series I felt the added narrator was unnecessary.

Partially Captivated

What made the experience of listening to Captivated by You the most enjoyable?

The love story between Ava and Gideon

What did you like best about this story?

I liked gettign both Gideon and Ava's perspective on this tumultuous relationship.

Have you listened to any of Jill Redfield and Jeremy York ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I agree with other readers that Jill Redfield is so good should could have done the hold thing without Jeremy York. But the complimented each other well.

Good Captive

"This review contains spoiler's read at your own risk." I love this series and I love this couple, but this book was an overload of emotions for me. Eva and Gideon are secretly married and no one is happy that they are even together. People are coming after Gideon by trying to hurt Eva. First there is Bret Kline who wants Eva and wants to use her to further his music career along with Gideon's brother Christopher, thinking that all she wants is his money along with his mother who is a piece of work in her own right "don't they know she has her own". This book was a lot more emotional then the other three and yes the sex scenes where hot as always with this couple which made me wonder why Ms. Day took it this way. The book did put to rest the mystery of Nathan's bracelet. I wanted to slap Carey he seemed to needy and if I were Trey I would leave his ass. The women in Gideon's past just won't let it go first Carrine she lost a baby and her husband and she still doesn't want to let him go "girl get a grip" he's gone. Ann Lucas what does she want "Gideon" she has a husband and her brother was his abuser and yes I know that he used her. One of the most emotional moments was after Eva told Gideon's stepfather what happened and he believed her after he confronted his wife and Dr. Lucas I thought that Sylvia handled this scene very well the emotions were so raw and Gideon's response to it made me glad that I listened to this on audio. This book was very well written "read" and I really liked the voice of the narrator of Gideon. I love this series, but I felt that this book should have wrapped up and ended and I am hoping that it doesn't take a year for the next book to come out.

Much more of the same but still keeps me intereste

--Audible--
Now that my “ear” is used to hearing these narrators voices, I’m really enjoying it. Jill Redfield and Jeremy York do an excellent job but I must say that when Jill reads the spicy parts as Ava, I flush all over. That woman knows how to do “the voice”. Dang.

This book is more of the same between Ava and Gideon. I am feeling like the story is being dragged out for reasons other than the plot. There were a few times I felt the tension and suspense ratchet up but it never pans out. Oh, there’s plenty of tension sexually speaking and plenty of arguing between these characters, but when it looks like this story is going to branch out a little further into some true drama, which is not directly related to their relationship, it just falls flat again. Either way, I’ve still enjoyed it although I would have certainly enjoyed it more if this series had been trimmed down into a trilogy and more of the outside mysteries and suspense had been allowed some reign.

Dual POV
Safe – ow/om drama but this couple stay true to each other

Jill Redfield was great as usual

...she really brings the story to life.
I thought the ending was appropriate & it left me looking forward to another chapter in the Gideon - Eva story. Will they make it? Hmmm. ..

Awesome

The narrators were good. Personally I prefer the dialogue to be read by each person. But overall it was a great audio. No matter how u choose to enjoy this book, it is an awesome story. Hands down Sylvia Day knows how to write a book. Can't wait for the conclusion to this series.

great story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes all of my friends in our book club have read this series and we love it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

we love the main characters and the twists and turns that life takes them through

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jill Redfield and Jeremy York ?

we love the great Job that she has done with the first three books. we would not change Jill Redfield, she is 100% better then jeremy york. when the next book comes out, if they put him in it we all agree that we will buy the book and read it instead of downloading it. we at our book club hope that they read our comments and try not to fix something thats not broken the first three books were so good please continue doing that and "DON'T" put him back on . Because we absolutely adore Gideon and Jill has his voice down!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when his step father left his mother and try to tell Gideon that he didn't know and try to let him know that he was not alone

Any additional comments?

could you guys please let us have the narrators that have become part of of the characters that makes us happy Please THANK YOU.
