Publisher's Summary

A number one Amazon best seller in thriller and suspense action fiction!

Jackson has two passions: fighting fires and Blaire. One love is deadly and unpredictable while the other is sweet and innocent. Except, Blair has a past that is far from innocent, and it is catching up to her in ways she never expected. Even worse, Jackson’s heroin-addicted brother threatens to destroy their relationship more than any fire ever could.

Fighting fires is something Jackson knows how to handle - he has trained for it and can face down any threat with a clear head. Opening himself up and being vulnerable in a relationship is another matter entirely, and he isn’t sure how to be totally honest with Blaire about his own rough childhood. When Blaire narrowly escapes a fire, hard choices must be made. Jackson must choose between his family alliances or lose the only woman he has ever loved.

Drama and Angst!

This is the first book in the Scorching Heat Series. Jackson and Blaire’s story is suspenseful, and intense, filled with angst, danger, and twists and turns. They are perfect together. The storyline is intriguing, and fast-paced. Dan Viens did a great job with the narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Can't same 'em all

This is book 1 in Bardot's Scorching Heat series and is the story of Jackson and Blaire. Jackson is a fire fighter who saves lives, it's what he does! When Jackson's horrible upbringing and junkie brother interfer with his peaceful life, when Balire's less than pure past brings life threatening fear - can he save his brother and his girl all the while keeping himself safe too?!? Love sucks - sucks the life right out of you with worry and joy and Jackson thought he had that kind of love with Blaire - but can their love withstand the trials that await them?!? A great read that's steamy and exciting. Full of heartache and warmth. Beautiful characters that are willing to be open and honest - even when it's the hardest thing to do. Great flowing story line and narration was well done!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Intense!

Wow, this book takes you on one amazing, angsty and intense ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. Callie Bardot is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, the story and characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Her descriptive details brings in to the story along side the characters to see what they are seeing feeling and thinking. Jackson and Blaire are a couple living together and in love, but both have secrets from their past that they are afraid to share. Jackson’s older brother, Jake, is a drug addict and is constantly looking for handouts. Blaire does not Jackson to help him anymore and this causes them to fight. She does not understand why he continues to help him or their bond. But Jake is not the only problem for Blaire when she finds out her past is out to get her, a past she never told anyone about. I really liked Jackson, he was kind and had a big heart, I was not thrilled with Blaire and her wishy washiness of what she should do. I get she was insecure about things but I found myself yelling at her at times. Thankfully she redeems herself by the end. I liked how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns including ones you never saw coming, as well as thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and in the end a love that stood up to it all. I was glad that Jackson was finally able to see who his brother really was, not the loving brother he grew up with but someone controlled by drugs and his own demons. Callie Bardot, thank you for the great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the audio, Dan Viens is a wonderful narrator and versatile voice artist. He performs the voices for all the characters, covers both the male and female roles with perfection, gives each their own distinct sound which makes it easy to follow along and know who is who. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Enjoyable!

Burned is a great start to the Scorching Heat series. There aren't many books about hot firefighters, so this one definitely grabbed my attention from the get-go. The storyline was entertaining, sweet, with charming characters. Dan Viensk did an excellent job with the narration, capturing the characters' personalities, bringing them to life. Overall, Burn was an enjoyable listen, one I'll recommend. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sickly Sweet

The story is based on the romance between Jackson and Blaire which was so sickly sweet and corny it had me rolling my eyes. Jackson and Blaire are highly insecure and both repeatedly, at various different times in the book will say "I've done X" or "if I don't do or say X" he or she won't love me anymore. The author also constantly repeats that fire fighters and EMT are superhero's....yes we know this, you don't have to keep telling us all the time. For me it was a struggle to get through, I didn't enjoy it. The narrator however did a great job with this audible book.
