Story
A night on the town after a long workweek at my family's distillery should include shots and dancing - not a hot kiss with a handsome stranger. I'm straight. At least, that's what I figured until I find myself locking lips with a sexy city boy. Now, all my circuits are going haywire, and the spark that ignites between us makes me even more curious. Unfortunately, I kissed the one man who's off-limits: Cohen Mitchell - the sole surviving heir to the Mitchell Creek distillery, a rival neighbor my family has feuded with for nearly a 100 years.

Story
At 43, I’m supposed to have everything figured out, and if you’d asked me six months ago, I’d have said I did: head of my own tech company, beautiful fiancée, amazing future all planned out...life was perfect. Or, at least, I thought it was.... So now, I’m in New York after selling my company and fleeing San Jose, and for the first time in as long as I can remember, I have nothing to fill my day

Story
My rules when it comes to my job in personal protection are pretty simple: Protect the client’s life, not their feelings. Don’t put hands on a client unless you’re getting them out of harm’s way. For God’s sake, don’t do something stupid like fall in love. Twenty-four hours after meeting Jude Archer, rules one and two are already out the window.

Story
I always felt I wasn’t wired like my peers, but when my brother, Kellan, gave me three terms - ace, aromantic, and demi - I had possible names for it. Those three words have been on my mind ever since, as has my brother’s best friend, Josh Westbrook. It’s been cool getting to know him and spending time together, just us. He makes me feel something I never thought I’d be able to feel. When we end up alone in a cabin with only one bed, all my crossed wires finally connect and point toward being demi and wanting him.

Story
My whole world changed with one roadside bomb and an honorable discharge. Not even the city I used to love can ease the restlessness inside me. I don’t expect visiting my cousin Sienna’s farm to do the trick, either, but the change of scenery can’t hurt. Wyoming isn’t what I expected - from the mischievous pig following me around, to the rescue horse I’ve become strangely fascinated with. And then, there’s Kerry, the handsome, brooding cowboy, who somehow calms the storm inside me - and just happens to be Sienna’s ex-husband.

Two years ago, I made a mistake, a big one. Then I added a couple more just for good measure. I screwed up my life, but I survived. Now I have the opportunity for a fresh start. Two years in NZ. Away from the LA gossip, a chance to breathe, to rebuild my life. But I’m taking a new set of rules with me. I don’t do relationships. I don’t do commitment. I don’t do white picket fences. And I especially don’t do arrogant, holier-than-thou, smoking hot K9 officers who walk into my ER and rock my world.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

It’s a classic story: Boy meets girl, girl breaks boy’s heart, boy pretends to be gay to get back at girl, girl outs boy to everyone on Facebook. Okay, maybe it’s not that classic. But it’s what happened to me. When I bump into my cheating ex and catch sight of the moon-sized rock on her finger, there’s only one option to save face: pretend to be dating my gay best friend, Declan. And when she outs me on Facebook and everyone I know sees it, there’s still only one option: keep pretending to be dating Declan.

After Andrew Wentz loses his job, his parents take pity and invite him to join them on a Mediterranean cruise. He jumps at the chance, but once he’s aboard, he feels guilty. Shouldn’t he be figuring out what to do with his pathetic life instead of lazing around on a ship? The cruise was supposed to be Eric Schofield’s honeymoon, but one cheating fiancé later, he’s traveling solo. Fine. He’s been working too much anyway, so a vacation is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Publisher's Summary
Easton
There is nothing I hate more than when some big-city outsider stirs trouble in my peaceful little town. When Mr. Arrogance himself waltzes in and thinks he can slap a price tag on my land, he doesn’t know what he has coming. I’m not just a hick cowboy who’s going to bend to his good looks and charmless personality. No, sir.
I don’t care how smart he looks in his fancy suits, all he cares about is money.
I just wish I’d known who he was before I kissed him.
Lachlan
The last thing I wanted was to get stuck in a small town with a plethora of quirky people. If the stubborn cowboy doesn’t see sense soon, I don’t know what I’ll do. Failure is not an option. I was sent to make a deal, and I’m not leaving until it’s done.
I don’t care how hot he looks in his low hanging denim, boots, and hat, he wouldn’t see a good opportunity if it smacked him in the face.
I just wish I could get the taste of him off my tongue.
City and country collide in this enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, low-angst MM romance novel.

A sweet and steamy enemies to lovers romance!
This was such a sweet, swoon worthy enemies to lovers romance. Easton and Lachlan are opposites in every way and clash when they first meet. Their chemistry is intense and palpable and their instant dislike to eachother is apparent. But their desire for eachother is stronger than their differences and they realize that they have much more in common that they thought. This was a feel good, cosy low angst Listen. Nick J. Russo performed a stellar audio delivery as always!

Love conquers all
I love this book and the whole series. I read this book when it was first published and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Lachlan and Easton. I enjoyed how much detail Nicky always includes in her stories. This book is made even more dynamic and full of life with Nick J. Russo's narration. He always finds a unique voice for each character and brings the emotion, in just the right amount. He created the perfect version of Easton's slow-mumbled drawl, Percy's voice and Josiah's way with sentences, just shines through in this narration. This book follows Easton and Lachlan. Easton owns a large ranch in Jasper, Alberta, Canada, that is on the brink of going under. In rolls, Lachlan to supposedly save the day, by purchasing the ranch for his father's development firm. Well the sparks fly from the moment these two meet. From the hot hallway kissing to the search for Percy, these two are the definition of slow burn, enemies to lovers. I can't wait to hear the next books in this series.

Great story
I loved this audiobook so much! I’m generally not the biggest fan of enemy to lover stories but Nicky did this one right! You could practically feel the sparks between Eaton and Lachlan. There was so much tension between these two!! This wasn’t a normal gut wrenching Nicky James book, I liked the change in angst level. Narration by Nick J Russo was fantastic. I Highly recommend this one!!!

Perfection
Nick did an awesome job bringing this book to life. Let’s just say swooning over Easton I can’t scream enough how much I love this book. If I had like one hour left in the day, I would have read the whole book in one day. I could not put these men down. Nicky sucked me in from the beginning and took me on one heck of a journey of finding love. This is one heck of an opposites attract and enemies to lovers book. Easton is a hard working cowboy working his ranch. He is a family guy and just wants someone for himself to live a happy life with a ranch full of kids. He is stubborn, loyal, honest, and has a huge heart. Lachlan is the COO of his fathers company and the pressure and insults he takes is unbearable. He is spoiled, judgmental, untrusting, insecure, and sexy. Their paths cross when Lachlan is sent to buy up the land that Easton owns to develop it. Man, there is instant attraction but Easton can see the type of person Lachlan is from ten feet away. These two throw insults like no other and set aflame to the fire every time they are near each other. As they spend time together, walls are let down and the city slicker starts to love the country life. Although they are total opposites, they just mesh. Pick up this book. You won’t be disappointed. I am so excited to have found out there is more to this series and we will see more of them in the future. I loved Easton’s family. I loved Lachlan’s brother. I just found his way into my heart right from the beginning. And the biggest love I found was with Percy. I love me a country man and a city slicker. 🌆🌄

Enemies to Lovers
I had previously read this book an enjoyed it but listening to it was a totally different experience. Nick Russo absolutely brought Easton and Lachlan to life. I literally felt bad for Lachlan every time East yelled and screamed at him. I wanted to shake some sense into East. It was an absolute joy listen to them finding the first few tendrils of friendship. I listened to their friendship grow and their attraction grow until they couldn't contain it any longer. They were so good together and it was amazing. I highly recommend this audiobook.

THE STORY: Hometown Jasper is a new small-town series from one of my favourite authors and Clashing Hearts is the first of four in this series. I love small-town stories, and Clashing Hearts did not disappoint. This book is a well written, low-angst, opposite-attract, enemy-to-lovers story with all the feels and emotions you come to expect from Nicky James. Easton is your typical family-loving, country guy who would do anything for the people he loves. He needs to do whatever he can to keep his family ranching business from folding... anything BUT sell to the arrogant city boy who waltzed into town. Lachlan is your typical big-city, executive guy. He has been tasked with the job of obtaining Mr Campbell's property and he cannot disappoint his father. There's banter, quick witty comebacks and sexual tension. From the start, Easton's character endears himself to the reader. Lachlan however, took a while. I started out hating Lachlan, and didn't know how Mrs James would get me to start liking him, but I shouldn't have worried, as she wove her magic and I found myself loving Lachlan as much as I did Easton. Let's talk about side characters!!! Little Percy total stole my heart!!! There are also a cast of quirky townsfolk whose stories I can't wait to read!! THE NARRATION: Nick J Russo did an amazing job with this book! This is his first collaboration with Mrs James and I'm so happy to hear that there's more to come! He brought this cast of characters to life!!! I especially loved Easton's southern drawl. I can't wait to see what he does with the rest of the series!!

So So Good!
I loved this when I read it back in June and listening to the audio reminded me just how much. Nick J. Russo just nailed the book, his Easton was pure perfection, just the right amount of drawl...it was so sexy! It was such a treat to listen to him bring this book to life. The story was just as wonderful as I remembered too! Boy did this book make me feel so much! I say this in every Nicky James' book I review because she is just such an exceptional writer that I get completely immersed in the stories she tells. Let me start by saying enemies to lovers is not a trope I normally read or look to pick up, it usually is not a favorite of mine. Once again, Nicky has converted me! This was a FABULOUS enemies to lovers story, the best I have ever read. I went through the gambit of emotions while reading this...hate, worry, concern, love, happiness, joy and just an overwhelming sense of satisfaction. I hated Lachlan immediately, he and Easton were like oil and water and just made each other seethe with anger everytime they were near. I was reading and thinking to myself "How the heck is she going to get them to a place where I believe they no longer despise each other, but now are starting to fall in love? How is she going to get me to like Lachlan?" I should not have doubted her because I was so swoony with happy feelings by the end that my heart was melting. And it was completely believable. She takes the time for us to get to truly know these men inside and out, their fears, their insecurities, their worries and who they are deep down inside. I felt their love and what they meant to each, I was totally on board with how these completely opposite men, completed each other. Their chemistry was off the charts and their love scenes were so intimate and real. There is also a cast of amazing side characters, family and friends and animals, that just bring this entire story together perfectly. Percy stole my heart and was just the sweetest! Logan was just about the best 4 legged friend you could ask for, Knox has a story I am dying to hear about. Last but not least, the setting for this book was breathtaking. I wanted to live in Jasper and could picture Easton's land and the gorgeous views and the small town atmosphere. The picture that was painted was so vivid in my mind, it was amazing. Take a trip to Jasper and fall in love with Easton and Lachlan like I did, you will be so glad you did!

Loved it!
I was so excited about this audiobook and it was really, really good! The narrator is new to me, but he did a really amazing job with the voices, he gave life to the characters and I loved listening to this story. I loved reading this book and now it was more perfect while listening to it. Easton and Lachlan's story is so good, you can easily fall in love with them. I fell for Lachlan and Easton. And for Easton's life style with the horses and that beast of a dog - Logan. And that kid, awww, Percy, he was a cutie, loved him too. And I have to mention Josiah - LOL - he was something else. Josiah and the way he spoke, just OMG I can't! Hilarious. Easton and Lachlan both were really complex characters and I loved watch them became more and more. Especially Lachlan. He came a really long way to become this super cute and caring man who loves the farm life too. I loved his insecurity and loved how they called each other names (I loved when Easton called Lachlan city). The tension between these two was so HOT. Really enemies to lovers, and so so amazing. Two alpha male, the exact opposite of each other, but still, they fallen in love, and in bed too. Loved the audio.

Wonderful!
Some stories just grab you, pull you in and you just can’t put it down until you know how it ends. This book was that for me. When I saw this was going to audio, I was so excited. I knew this was going to be a must listen! Nick Russo did a great job in bringing Lachlan and Easton to life for me! His narration really pulled me back to Jasper and I was immediately was drawn into Lachlan and Easton’s story. I’ll admit when I read the book, I found myself wondering if I would ever start liking Lachlan! Nick Russo’s narration of him endeared me to him sooner than I remembered from my read! I loved the push and pull of the sexual tension and the hate-hate relationship Lachlan and Easton had going on. I loved seeing Lachlan’s emotions evolve and as he began to really see the beauty of Jasper through East’s eyes. These two, and Percy, really pulled on my heartstrings and I loved seeing them get their happily ever after. As usual, Nicky James tells such a beautiful story, with wonderful characters and emotions you can feel. Nick Russo really did a wonderful job conveying her words and the emotions of the characters. I’m eager for the rest of this series to come out in audio as each book was fantastic!

Enemies to lovers and cowboys? Sign me up!
I loved this book when it first came out on Kindle, but getting to listen to these characters come to life under Nick Russo's talented narration took it to the next level. The emotional moments in this story felt so much more real when I could hear the frustration or fear or passion in these men's voices. I could tell that Nick really understood the characters he was narrating by the way he so accurately interpreted their personalities, all the way down to their city vs. country boy accents. On top of the fantastic narration, the actual story was incredible. I've always been a fan of enemies-to-lovers style romances, and Lachlan and Easton provided the perfect combination of hate-filled stares and simmering lust. Add in the small town landowner vs big city developer conflict and there was no chance of me putting this book down. If Easton was an immediately likable character, then Lachlan was the dark horse, swooping in later on to steal my heart away entirely. Sure, at the beginning Lachlan was materialistic, ruthless, and ambitious, but as time went on it became obvious that he didn't choose that lifestyle. As he spent more time in Jasper, his harsh edges softened and I began to see hints of a genuinely good person buried underneath that expensive corporate shield. I love stories that involve a lot of self-reflection and character growth, and in Lachlan's case it was particularly satisfying to see. From exploring empathy to taking care of Easton during his roughest moments, Lachlan proved his worth to me every step of the way. By the time Lachlan realized he was in love, his entire persona had been transformed and he seemed genuinely happy with his life in Jasper--completely unlike the stuck-up city boy I met in chapter one, In a book with such stand-out main characters, I was impressed by how incredible all the side characters were. Percy in particular brought so much dimension and life to this story, showcasing Easton's kindheartedness and revealing Lachlan's inner sweetness early on. As if this story didn't already have enough things going for it, I was super invested in the actual storyline and finding out what was going to happen to Easton's land. Nicky has such a knack for pacing out a story so that everything falls into place in unexpected ways, and the conclusion to this book was no exception. As I was reading the epilogue I caught myself tearing up with happiness because everything worked out so wonderfully for their little family and I adore them so much! **I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Absolutely loved it
The story, characters, environment and everything was created so well. I loved how it started, the dynamics between the MCs and how they change and developed. I got irritated, I smiled and I cried big tears during the process. The narration is great but I just loved Nick’s Easton.

Irresistible
I had already read this story before I got the audio. In my opinion the audio brings so much to the story. Nick Russo really makes the characters come to life. To begin with this is a great story. So much fun as Lachlan learns there is more than business and money. His father plays such a big part of making Lachlan who he is but Easton teaches him there is more to life than power and money. These two are so different and yet somehow the author manages to bring a total arrogant Lachlan with a country boy Easton. Lachlan is almost to the point of being stuffy and it is fun to see him have to deal with business totally different than he has to deal with before. Easton is totally entertaining by his self. He is proud and totally stands his ground on what he believes in. The attraction between these two is intense and funny. This is the first audio of this series I’ve had a chance to listen to and I’m hoping that I’ll get the chance to listen to the rest.

Loved it!
This was just what I needed. A true enemies to lovers city versus country plot line. Easton and Lachlan’s chemistry was off the charts but it took a while for things to heat up as they truly hated each other. Both characters were wonderfully developed and I really enjoyed how Lachlan’s true character was revealed. Their story flowed along nicely and kept me engaged from the start. And after a few twists and turns they eventually got their HEA. The performance by Nick J Russo was flawless and he certainly brought the characters to life.

City meet country and sparks fly
Story: A great cowboy love story! I love how we meet Lachlan as an arrogant jerk, without sugarcoating it, and how we follow the shifts in his demeanor! There is plenty of personal development here, coupled with a brilliantly executed story of a little boy in dire need of rescue. This book took me by very positive surprise and it was a pleasure to experience the story! Narration: A great voice! I loved the performance.
