Publisher's summary

Always the Dungeon Master, never the druid.

Juniper Smith is finally starting to feel at home in this new world. Everywhere he looks are familiar pieces of the game worlds he used to make back on Earth.

The last druid has died, and with her, a rare and precious magic is slowly seeping its way out of the world. The ritual to bring her back as an infant only requires a little messing around with devils and simply hacking the game system on his soul, which is practically routine, but to speed the process along will be another matter entirely.
Getting to the Bottomless Pit will take a long train ride where any misstep might blow the party’s cover. Going down the Pit will require a flying machine and some false pretenses. But once they're down there, the team hopes to find a living house, one of Uther Penndraig's old strongholds. Aside from the time chamber they need, Juniper is pretty sure that the world's greatest philosopher-king will have left them some surprises.

Come inside and join the game!

Fantastic Fantasy Adventure!

"Building Strongholds" is an excellent addition to the Worth the Candle series, filled with exciting world building, memorable characters, and a captivating storyline that keeps you engaged from beginning to end. Alexander Wales' storytelling is masterful, and Eric Michael Summerer's narration brings the story to life with great skill and nuance. If you're a fan of fantasy, LitRPG, or adventure, this audiobook is an absolute must-listen. Highly recommended! Now I just have to wait for the next book...

Amazing

Worth the Candle has effortlessly become one of my favourite fantasy novels. I’m completely enamoured with the characters and world. So much so that finishing book three, and having to wait so long for four, is truly bitter sweet.

worth the read

not as much journey as I liked yet the relationship building of the team along with where this story promises to go made it worth it.

characters are great

I like all the characters, and it's probably the first "litrpg" that makes me worry if the characters are all going to make it.

Excellent Characters and World

The book continues the amazing adventure starters and developed by the first two. The character-focused story is exactly what is missing in a genre often overburdened by endless repetitive combat scenes.

this series really is something special it has a really unique sense of world building as well as having fantastic character work this book was a bit slower compared to the other two however it's very clear to see that setting up a phenomenal groundwork for books to come

did not expect this much touchy feely bullshit

I read these books for dnd and litrpg goodness not a step by step guide to weird pregnancies and love triangles. val the red and the newest companion really salvage the story. still down for the 4th
