Desperate for inspiration, Hazel impulse-buys a historic home online and flees Manhattan to tiny Story Lake, PA. Upon her dramatic arrival—involving an incident with a bald eagle—she discovers the charm of her new home may have been slightly exaggerated.

The house is a wreck and the town is struggling after their biggest employer shut down. Also, since her raccoon-infested home came with a seat on the town council our introverted heroine is stuck with a front row seat to all the small-town shenanigans.

But Hazel isn’t worried. Not since all six-feet-three inches of grouchy contractor Campbell Bishop slapped a bandage on her forehead and unintentionally inspired the heck out of her. There’s only one thing to do: Hire Cam and his equally gorgeous brothers to renovate her new spider museum…er…house.

Okay two things. A fake date for “research purposes” will really put her work-in-progress on track. Before Hazel knows it, she’s writing a romance novel and living one. At least until the drywall dust settles, the town she’s falling in love with faces bankruptcy, and growly Cam remembers why he can’t live happily ever after.

Ah, the Bishop Brothers!

These are two of my favorite narrators (loved the Knockemout Series) & they did not disappoint - I was living the story! Lila Winters is so good, & Sebastian York’s voice does it for me.

Lucy Score makes me laugh, love, hurt, & cry more than any other author; I seek out her books - & good job again with the opening book for Story Lake.

The Bishop brothers sound like good hearted, hard-working, sexy men. I loved Cam, & look forward to books for Gage & Levi.

I don’t care at all for the socially progressive themes referenced throughout - references to lesbians, a drag queen, interracial marriage, sensory, and environmental issues - but I respect differences, & try to overlook those situations, and still enjoyed the book immensely.

I loved it just as much as the Knockemout Series! Same narrators and they are seriously perfect! I love Hazel, great character, wanted the best for her! I couldnt stop listening, finished in a day and now look forward to the other two Bishop brothers finding love- we know ones with Zoey but who’s the other brother falling for?! Can’t wait for the series!

Excellent narration to go with an Excellent story!

Sebastian York was perfection as Cam Bishop. Lila was Hazel to a T! Lucy Score doesn't write anything that isn't excellent to read, and these two brought The Story Of My Life to LIFE.

Please tell me we are getting and second book. This grumpy sunshine had me kicking my feet. I had several laugh out loud moments.

Awesome romantic comedy!

I am a huge fan of everything Lucy Score writes, but this probably is my favorite book so far. I love the quirky residents of Story Lake. The story has several laugh out loud moments and a great romance between the main characters. I can’t wait for the next installment. I highly recommend this book or anything to Lucy Score writes.
