Publisher's Summary

What if feelings like anger, sadness, and fear could improve your life for the better? In this practical, life-changing book, Christian counselors Alison Cook and Kimberly Miller describe their unique five-step process for bringing peace to overwhelming emotions and harmony to your inner world.

Do you ever struggle to calm your competing internal "enemies"? Boundaries for Your Soul provides a Spirit-based plan for creating remarkable serenity within by helping you recognize that these often overwhelming emotions are not your enemies; rather, they are helpers who have gone well beyond their roles, robbing you of deep-down joy and genuine connection with others. By compassionately guiding them to their proper functions, however, you can make them your greatest encouragers and allies.

In Boundaries for Your Soul, Cook and Miller guide you through a five-step process for doing so, showing you how to introduce the Holy Spirit to your wayward emotions and transform your weaknesses into powerful strengths.

Filled with anecdotes and wisdom from the authors’ combined 25 years of study and clinical practice, Boundaries for the Soul leads listeners on a journey of personal discovery grounded in the Christian tradition. Additional helps include exercises and opportunities for personal reflection.

An amazing work of counseling and compassion.

As a minister, coach and counselor, this is one of the most comprehensive works I’ve read in a long time. The only true healing comes from Jesus being with those parts of ourselves that we can not understand apart from Him.

A great book to help us heal from negative emotions!

Cook and Miller do an excellent job using their own personal experiences as well as the stories from their clients to help us all understand how we can live more freely, by confronting and taking care of the different parts of our souls - especially the negative parts. The authors tell us to be gentle with ourselves and that we can turn the things we don't like about ourselves into something positive. Nothing like this has been written before and they do it with great clarity, kindness, and smarts. It's a must-read for anyone who desires integration between the person they want to be and who they actually are. Bravo!!

Great Content

This is a good book and helps you grasp IFS therapy from a Christian perspective. I have read it over and over to better grasp the concepts.

This whole idea that in order for this to be a Biblical perspective you must address Satan..... They need to actually read the Bible. There is far more written about US overcoming our flesh than Satan's influences.

More religion than help for your heart and mind

This book is SO consumed with religion. It seems that almost every paragraph cites a passage from the Bible. It is so distracting and could be so much better, without the heavy religious undertones. You can try to replace the religious words with more generic, I

Good to a point

I agree on some things in this, while parts of the book I don’t agree. It useful for me to a point but feel like there is more insight I need than what this book provides.

Transformative

I am a youth and young adult pastor who struggles with people pleasing and shame. I mask this by throwing myself into my work for the “greater good.” Now that I understand the anatomy of my soul, I can now have a candid conversation with these parts through my Spirit lead self. Thanks so much

The missing piece

This book has been the missing piece in my healing and journey to become more of who God made me!! My pieces and parts, while trying to help keep me safe and to avoid pain, have been holding me back. I’ve learned to appreciate them instead of hate those parts of me... life changing. To see them, appreciate their efforts and ask Jesus to heal them and befriend them through his Holy Spirit.... I just can’t find the words but I am so thankful to the authors for taking time to spell out this process. Strongly recommend this book.

Read and Re Read!

I've done and read many self help concepts over the years, but this book and the concepts inside really took a new and different approach on my inner self I haven't seen before. I'm excited top or this model into practice and find the Christ centered healing I've been searching for. I'll read and re read this over and over!

Not based on biblical truth

I appreciate the attempt to help people but real freedom is found in the biblical truth that Satan is a liar and the father of lies who causes emotional damage from his repetition in lying that creates bondage. Real freedom is found in the truth of gods word

Boundaries for your soul

The book is confusing in the delivering and content. One minute you think, I get it, then the next totally lost.
Found that the two female voices ( tonally, were very similar)made it difficult to realise that they were going on to talk about something else.
I was listening and as the tone and speaker changed it was after about 30 seconds realised the topic had changed.
Was like....
oh.....finished that bit, we’re on to something else. I keep listening to the end of the audio book thinking it would get better, but, it didn’t.
