Publisher's Summary

I was tantalized by the mystery of her. The leech inside me came out to find prey, but found none in this enigmatic girl. The close proximity of her essence didn’t entice the monster within, so what did that make her? I had more questions than answers, but one thing was unmistakable; although she released me from her embrace, her hold on me remained.

Cruel circumstances turned Curry Brennan into the wretched monster he hates and refuses to accept, but when an expected turn of events releases him from the bond of his obsessive maker, he returns to the home he knew 161 years earlier and finds the return of happiness and joy in something he didn’t know existed. Puzzled by his growing attraction to Chansey Leclaire, a human, he is unable to resist the captivating relationship that threatens to reveal his existence as a vampire. He eventually discovers the reason he was destined to find what he didn’t know he searched for and is faced with the cruel realization that the living and the immortal undead will always be separated by one thing. Eternity.

Vampire that isn't a vampire

Call this any time of "adult" book is laughable. Main character is an over a century old vampire who acts like a teenager. He wants to leave her as not to hurt her like a Martyr but that whole thing is ruined; cause after he finally does leave, he doesn't really leave, and gets upset when she moves on. Typically teenage Emo boy character, self pity and dramatic bull, with so many plot holes that it just makes the author look like an amateur. If the MC wasn't so lame the book could have been great, but he just makes no sense.

The biggest plot hole is the fact that he has this big temper and vampire powers but cant sense her stalker or take care of him at ALL. He knows what he wants but our Emo Vampire dude is all "woe is me", even after he saves her at the end of the book, he doesn't immediately kill the stalker he just hangs around like it was a mild inconvenience, making lame jokes.

Amazing...this is why I have the romance package

Every time I think I've read all the good books in the romance package I come across a book like this one. The depth in this book is amazing from story to characters. Only issues is this book ends abruptly so be ready to download the next.

Good story but definitely G - PG rating.

The story was ok but I am not even sure I would classify as romance. Maybe a love story. **Spoiler alert** It did end on a cliffhanger so maybe the couple will get together "physically" in next book after the wedding. I am not patient enough to find out.

AWFUL narration

I really did try to get into this story, but the narrator made it impossible for me. He was boring with absolutely no connection with the characters.

A past enjoyed vampire story

I listened to the entire series a very long time ago but didn't leave my feedback so here it is now. All I can say is at first the narrator had me thinking I wont enjoy this but once I bought the first book and started listening to it my feelings immediately changed. He does great with voice c h.g agnes and is definitely worth trying out . Dont judge this one before you honestly try it . I really liked it and still do to this day")

Was the Narrator tired or what?

The story overall was OK, but, the narrator sounded tired or bored with the whole thing. Maybe, he was actually trying to pull a bored vampire sound off. What was up with that? Hope the second book is better due to I have already got it in my library. Georgia Cates books usually are good. I don't know what happened.

Pathetic. 2nd Graders trying to write a story.

I realize this is fiction but come on... very unrealistical and hard to finish the story... guy who swears to protect his true love... Fails twice in a row to protect her... weak and un-imagitive writing. don't waste ur time or money on this book.

Bad hallmark movie

Kept waiting for the story to dig in and get good, but just felt like this was a very predictable hallmark movie. Work night shift so it was great to have playing to drown out to days noises to sleep better.

I just couldn't take it

It's not often I give up on a book, but am half way through and can't go on, the story is lack luster and narration dull, maybe this would be good for putting you too sleep.

Interesting

I really like Tad Branson's voice and for the most part he's a good narrator. I feel like some of the time he seems bored or exasperated in the wrong places. I can't think if a specific example though. I think he could use some pointers from Jason Clarke to really improve his narration.

The story Georgia Cates wrote is really interesting, I love the concept, I feel like she did a lot of research and I can feel the love she has for her characters; but I feel like the two main protagonists are too mundane the majority of the time. That being said, the storyline is still good, so much so I am a few chapters in of the second book Blood Jewel.

All in all, it's a decent read/listen.
