Publisher's summary

Karina and LiAnn worked hard to put the awful memories behind them of the nightmare they walked into at The Magnolia and all the death and destruction caused by the former owners. As they settled into their new roles as managers of the upscale independent living facility, LiAnn reconnects with her true love and Karina continues to explore the new relationship with a sexy cowboy named Bo.

Each are haunted by the atrocities committed at The Magnolia and how close Karina came to dying at the hands of mafia monsters. With the help of her mother, beloved grandparents, new job, an enormous dog, and a hunky, younger man to keep her mind occupied, Karina lets her guard down, naively assuming the worst is over for her family.

Unfortunately, she's wrong.

When one of the elderly residents of The Magnolia reveals the truth about a shady past, the entire Tuck family find themselves embroiled in one of Arkansas's most notorious mysteries from 1957. The disappearance of a beloved attorney and her young charge was never solved, bodies never found, and even after over 60 years, Karina and LiAnn discover there are still those who intend to keep it that way.

Great 2nd book in this series!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, this was a great follow up to book 1 of the Magnolia series. If anything, I cared even more about the characters with this book than the first one. Ashley Fontainne does a great job of continuing the tales of The Magnolia. The narration continues to be great and pulled me right into the story. So great, worth your time and credit.

So good!

This story isn't quite as dark as book one, but it's every bit as scary. The antagonists in this story are the scariest ones available to an author, people. Fontainne has managed to perfectly capture the depravity and corruption of the human evildoer, while also conveying the absolute fear of the innocent and the long-lingering after-effects. Roberts, as always, did an excellent job with the voice-acting, bringing the book to life.

Blood Loss

This is the second book in a series. It is good.I liked the characters more than I did in the first book.We start by hearing a harrowing story of Karinas mothers best friend.Karina and her mother seem to still be in the mobs sites.Terrible things happen ,people die and yet there seems to be no mourning by any of the characters.Rebecca Roberts is a great narrator.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

I really liked it

Blood Loss was another good one in this series. I really like the mother/daughter duo and how even though they are not investigators anymore it's still in their blood and they can't seem to let their curiosity just lie. They had to dig into things even when asked not to and a part of them wishes they would have left things alone but there was no going back. I was a little bummed with how some things went down at the end but overall I really enjoyed this crime/mystery.

Riveting! Nail biting pot twists and Mystery.

Blood Loss by Ashley Fontainne and Lillian Hansen is book 2 of the Magnolia Series which further drives home the strong connections between the mob and the hometown residents who have deep dark secrets. Back once again, Karina, LiAnn, and Karina’s grandparents discover their closest friends’ deepest darkest secrets that have deadly outcomes even decades later. Everyone has secrets, including Karina’s new love interest Bo. Determined to make the Magnolia work and save everyone, the plot twists are riveting and the ultimate ending is breathtaking.

The plot is well-developed and full of twists and turns that will take the listeners breath away at times with each new revelation. Once you start the audio, there is no stopping it until the end!

Descriptions are vivid and realistic. The development of each character is rich and complete. The storyline has the potential to be confusing but Fontanne’s skill keeps everything smooth and clear while also keeping the listener on the edge of their chair.

The narrator, Rebecca Roberts brings the book and characters to life. Her ability to capture and project the spirit of each character is mesmerizing. Excellent job!

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries, fast-paced action, and well-developed stories! I love Ashley Fontainne's writing!!

Torn

I have to admit I'm a little torn by this audiobook. I'll start by saying I enjoyed it - good premise, excellent characters, proficient (at times excellent) narration, and a setting I just loved (I'm a fan of old Hot Springs). I guess the thing that leaves me torn about this one is expectations. I absolutely loved the first novel in the series ("Blood Ties" - check it out) and I was looking forward to more in the series. This novel checked in at almost half the length of the first, and I admit it felt a little rushed. I think there was enough material here for a third story, and I kinda feel like the ending was tied up a little too quickly. While I liked the book I think that my expectations were a little too high and I was disappointed that things wrapped up so abruptly.

If you're looking for a good small town Southern mystery with a healthy dose of family and some romance you will absolutely enjoy the series, particularly the first novel. Just don't set (what may have been) unreasonable expectations and you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of them.
