Publisher's Summary

A computer geek-turned-rock star....

Mike is good at playing with two things - numbers and his guitar. People, not so much. So, when he stumbles upon two women having fun in the shadows at an underground club and a bouncer urges him to get one to safety, he's not sure how to respond.

But when he discovers she's been bitten and her neck is bleeding, something wakes inside of him. He's compelled to protect her.

One night with a crush she'd never forget....

When Allana runs into Mike, the humiliation burns. It might have only been a fling last summer, but she didn't expect him not to recognize her.

Well, she had enough going on in with her yoga studio to deal with guy drama. But, he insists she leaves Vamps with him.

She wants to refuse, but he warns she's in danger....

Blaze is a novel in the Underground Encounters series, set in a club that attracts supernatural creatures. Each book features a different couple and, perhaps, different species and can be listened to on its own.

Step into Vamps, a thrilling new world of steamy paranormal romance featuring shifters, vampires, witches, and gargoyles!

Book's on fire!

The Velvet Cocks have returned to the stage at Vamps, an underground nightclub that caters to humans and all kinds of paranormals. Lead singer, Nico, and his girlfriend Lily, have embraced their differences and are now a solid couple. On stage, Chee Keydood, Mike, is jumping around the stage, dressed in another one of his outrageous outfits. A computer genius by day, sexy rock star by night, Mike has a penchant for one night stands and nothing more. Ally was one of those one nighters a while back and she watches him with interest.  After the show, Mike tries to make his way to the bathroom, but comes across two women in a strange sort of embrace. One seems to have her teeth in the neck of the other and there's blood! The tall, blond bouncer tells Mike to get Ally out of there quickly and he literally carries her out of Vamps. At the car, she recognizes Mike, but Mike doesn't recognize her. She's upset because he didn't remember her name after spending an entire evening with her. Even though he's not known as boyfriend material, she's hurt. It's nearing New Year's Eve and Lily and Nico are thinking of throwing a New Year's bash for the band and friends. Lily is overwhelmed and anxious because her skills simply are not for entertaining, but Ally is a party throwing rock star! She'll certainly help, but she's not sure she wants to attend since Mike will be there. Sure enough, he's the first person she sees when she walks through the door and they're inexplicably drawn to each other. They share an early New Year's Eve kiss which lights a fire in them both. They spend a passionate night together, but Ally is determined to keep it a one night thing. She has a sad secret from her past that doesn't allow her to give her heart to anyone. Mike doesn't know what's happening to him, either, but it scares him that he wants to know more about a woman. After too many times of saying no to him, Mike realizes that they have no future together. With a little communication, they might have figured things out so much sooner, but that wouldn't have given him an opportunity to use some of the newfound skills he has. A secret that he never even knew he had, turns out to be a lifesaver. The trip into his past was a sweet sort of awakening, giving him an entirely different perception of his parents and grandparents. When the woman from the bathroom makes another appearance, everything falls into place and most questions are answered. Lisa Carlisle has written an enchanting story with fascinating and real characters who find a HFN ending. I would love to see more of Mike and Ally and continue on their journey to a HEA. The narration is impeccably done by Amber Lee Connors and Kieran Flitton. They both have dynamic voices that clearly portray each individual voice with just the right inflection, timbre and tone. Flitton does multiple accents very well!

He didn't make it a great start--this time around.

Loved the audio of a book I read a while back. It is a double narration with female and male narrators who do a good job of matching the characters. A couple of accents that are always fun are included for the band guys. Mike, being part of a band, a successful nerd in business didn't need a woman. Many women one at a time, yes. That is until the bouncer at a club they sometimes played shoved a beauty into his arms and said to get her out—he hesitated until he saw the dripping marks on her neck. Blood. When she came out of her trance he couldn't figure out why she was ticked at him. Oh, yeah, what was her name? She was one of the nameless many from several months ago. Not a great start to what he soon decided he wanted to be more than a one or in this case two-night stand. While trying to change his ways and her thoughts of him Mike would learn more about himself than he cared to learn. One thing that didn't change was his need to protect Allana and get her to change her mind about him. Would his help and charm melt through the ice around her heart? Another hot offering in the Vamp series Blaze is as hot as the title and the characters are strong, feisty, and belong together. Gargoyles! Love them and guards in a hot club? Wow. Each book is different in a world the author has created that is unique yet believable. Gotta luv those guys and the characters that frequent Vamps. Bring on the next!

Drama, Steam & Emotions

I enjoyed this entertaining PNR. Allana and Mike's story provides the reader with plenty of intense emotions, drama, tension, twists and steam. These two really have a lot they have to deal with as the storyline unfolds including plenty of baggage on both sides, hurt feelings and current danger. The narrators did a wonderful job with this book. I thought their performance was spot-on and that their voices fit the characters well. All together, a very fun book!

Who Knew A Geek Could Be So Sexy!

I have so enjoyed listening to the books in the series Underground Encounters, this is the seventh book and it definitely does not disappoint. The story is able to be listened to as a stand-alone, but one of the things I love about these books is that lots of the characters featured in them have already appeared in the earlier books, that is certainly the case here so for that reason I recommend listening to the books in the order they were written. Mike is a geek by day, he works with computer code but by night, he's a Rock Star member of the group The Velvet Cocks, he's totally committed to staying single and only does one-nighters! We met another band member Nico, aka Leggy Bones when he met the love of his life, Lily in book four of this series, Ignite. Lily was with her friend Ally enjoying a night at Vamps the club where the VC's were performing. Mike likes the club and goes there even when he's not working, one night whilst there he sees two women getting hot and heavy but then one of the women bites the other drawing blood. He's shocked when he realizes that one of the women is someone he'd had a hot one night stand with. Allie doesn't do relationships either but is angry when Mike can't remember her name, she has no idea what happened at Vamps, or why she was with a woman. But she reluctantly agrees to allow Mike, the sexy guitarist to see her safely home. Allie doesn't realize it but Mike's not who or what she thinks and he's not going to let her go this time. Will he be able to convince her and gain her trust? There is so much more I could say but I can't without spoiling this fantastically good book for you. What I will say is that I fell for Mike, I loved the way he coped with the surprises life had in store for him! The story flows well, it's hot and it's one I know I will listen to again. This book is performed by the wonderfully talented duo of Amber Lee Connors and Kieran Flitton who have also narrated the earlier books in this series. They together with Lisa Carlise make a wonderful team. I can't wait to hear what they do with the next book in this wonderful series. My review is written voluntarily and contains only my personal opinions.
