Steve Jobs was given up for adoption at birth, dropped out of college after one semester, and at the age of 20, created Apple in his parents' garage with his friend Steve Wozniack. Then came the core and hallmark of his genius - his exacting insistence on perfection, his counterculture life approach, and his level of taste and style that pushed all boundaries.

Simplicity isn’t just a design principle at Apple - it’s a value that permeates every level of the organization. The obsession with Simplicity is what separates Apple from other technology companies. It’s what helped Apple recover from near death in 1997 to become the most valuable company on Earth in 2011. Thanks to Steve Jobs’s uncompromising ways, you can see Simplicity in everything Apple does: the way it’s structured, the way it innovates, and the way it speaks to its customers.

The death of Steve Jobs left a gaping void at one of the most innovative companies of all time. Jobs wasn't merely Apple's iconic founder and CEO; he was the living embodiment of a global megabrand. It was hard to imagine that anyone could fill his shoes - especially not Tim Cook, the intensely private executive who many thought of as Apple's "operations drone". But seven years later, as journalist Leander Kahney reveals in this definitive audiobook, things at Apple couldn't be better.

Story
DisneyWar is an enthralling tale of one of America's most powerful media and entertainment companies, the people who control it, and those trying to overthrow them. It tells a story that - in its sudden twists, vivid, larger-than-life characters, and thrilling climax - might itself have been the subject of a Disney classic - except that it's all true.

Story
In the past decade, Hollywood has endured a cataclysm on a par with the end of silent film and the demise of the studio system. Stars and directors have seen their power dwindle, while writers and producers lift their best techniques from TV, comic books, and the toy biz. The future of Hollywood is being written by powerful corporate brands like Marvel, Amazon, Netflix, and Lego, as well as censors in China. Ben Fritz chronicles this dramatic shakeup with unmatched skill, bringing equal fluency to both the financial and entertainment aspects of Hollywood.

Story
Comedians Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld never thought anyone would watch their silly little sitcom about a New York comedian sitting around talking to his friends. NBC executives didn't think anyone would watch either, but they bought it anyway, hiding it away in the TV dead zone of summer. But against all odds, viewers began to watch, first a few and then many, until nine years later nearly 40 million Americans were tuning in weekly.

really good listen with a great narrator
Where does The Second Coming of Steve Jobs rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
tops
Who was your favorite character and why?
John Lasseter: the ultimate 3D pioneer
Have you listened to any of Charles Stransky’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did not realize the true depth of Job's destructiveness until now. It's a wonder that any of his companies succeeded after he was thrown out of Apple. It's a tribute to those around him that Apple made a comeback, and that the 3D business became what it did. I guess money and charisma can save even the truly incompetent from oblivion and failure

audible.com really owes its success to steve jobs
we all listen to aubible.com, but would we listen without ipods? Lest we forget itunes; the dude (Steve Jobs)really is a revolutonary marketeer. And he has opened up entirely new markets and accesorized modern America. If only the guy who had written this book had waited a few more years he would have had a much more interesting book to write.

Good book with a good reader.
This was a good book and worth the listen, but it really paints a picture of a different man than who I would imagine a million Apple nuts worship.
The reader is good and pleasant to listen to and never gets boring.

Most fascinating audiobook ever
I could not stop listening when I played this title and continued listening for seven straight hours - seriously no pause. Yes it might have been a waste of a perfectly good Saturday but I couldn't stop. Little things like the Jim Clark connection to the founders of Pixar and how that came back to play it self out many years later when Pixar and Netscape both went public in 1995 makes you think about how inbred Silicon Valley really is. How about the night Bill Gates made crank calls to Steve Jobs - now that is cool.

The Human Steve Jobs
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to a friend, for it shows the humanity of Steve Jobs, including his weaknesses, his foibles and his strengths.
What did you like best about this story?
His rising from the ashes of failure, when he was kicked out of Apple, to his return is the most riveting part of the story.
What does Charles Stransky bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Stransky makes the story come alive - as if we are watching a soap opera unfolding.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This book needs to be digested in sections - not in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
A summary of the book at the beginning would be useful.

Detailed well connected parts of Steve Jobs Storie
After reading Steve Jobs autobiography I wanted to know more about Steve Jobs before his death. wanted to understand people/writer opinion on him. Book by Alan Deutschman has given detailed understanding on Steve till 2000, what was happening around him when he left Apple and started his new venture Next, Pixar and back to Apple. No doubt Alan has done awesome job in brining all dots together and justify Steve story. This book is really motivational in term of someone who wants to know and follow Steve Jobs path or want to know the hurdles or challenges he faced and emerged as winner. Charles narration is like a great story teller like a real.. Love reading/Listening this book.. Pixar inside story(Start to end-till 2000) was great (unknown parts) and even not mentioned in Steve Jobs autobiography... If someone is more interested in details, this is the right book.. Great Work Alan ...

Think Different
An interesting account of the later career of Apple's co-founder. It is not hagiography; it strives to give a coherent account of a very eccentric personality, and some of the traits and incidents described are fairly disquieting. You catch a glimpse, I think, of how compelling a presence the man must be.
He once double-dated with Bill Gates!

The UK perspective
As the title of this review suggests i live in the UK. So whats the relevance of that? Well this, like a lot of titles I download from Audible is read by Americans, about Americans for Americans. Now before anyone goes off on one about this review! that is not a criticism, after all I keep coming back for more, I mention it only because the significance of individuals and events may not always be as obvious if you live outside the US. I think it is a testament to how well read and written this piece is that it kept my interest for so long and had me exploring some of the individuals and places in the book on the internet to find more. The quandary of the books is that by the end I am not sure what I make of Steve Jobs. Do I loath him for being so apparently up himself, do I admire him for some of his more obvious successes or am I just jealous of some of his luck...bit of all 3 maybe. Anyway like him or loath him it was a compelling listen that I would have no problem recommending. Maybe my one and only criticism could be the theatrical way in which the book is read although this is only a very minor criticism.
Enjoy
