Publisher's Summary

Explore the Captivating Life of Nikola Tesla!

Obsessive, brilliant, and tortured, Nikola Tesla was lauded for his invention of the alternating current (AC) and other significant contributions to science. His claim that “harnessing the forces of nature was the only worthwhile scientific endeavor" both impressed and enraged the scientific community. Eventually his peers could no longer dismiss his eccentricities and began to view him as a crackpot - a potentially dangerous one.

Although Tesla’s work was a major factor in the success of the second Industrial Revolution, he died alone, impoverished, and largely shunned by the scientific community that once hailed him a genius. Beset by visions, without a wife or children, Nikola Tesla’s brilliant mind changed the world, even though at the time of his death he passed unnoticed into obscurity.

Some of the topics covered in this audiobook include:

 • Childhood
 • Education and Early Career
 • Patents and Politics
 • The Eccentric Genius

Great & Detailed

Tesla talks about his inventions without conceit. His ideas were so far ahead of his time that we are only just now putting some of them to use. He knew a way to supply every household and business on this earth with electricity, wirelessly. Why was that suppressed? Very interesting book.

Greatest Inventor

In my opinion, Tesla was the greatest inventor of all time. The dude was a total genius. The author writes briefly about memories of his youth, his education, work experience, visions, dreams and ultimately the science and visions that inspired his many inventions.

One Should Listen To It

I liked this book though it felt like he wasn't telling everything. Tesla kept a lot of stuff secret. It is short and can be a little sketchy in places but worth the listening.

Wonderful

Wonderful insight into the mind opened by tesla himself. Limited only by external political, racial, nationalistic, and self-serving individuals who were farthermost from telsa's altruistic genius. I am proud he is receiving the recognition deserved for a century.

It Was Good

Very interesting and informative autobiography. My grandfather was an inventor and Tesla's name was familiar to me from early on. The most interesting one was a small airplane model constructed of metal. I remember wanting to play with it when I was five in 1948. You could flick the prop and it would run for days until it was stopped. There were no batteries. My brother told me later that it was a perpetual motion machine that grandfather was working on and planning to create a full sized airplane.

A book that is easy to understand. Very entertaining and the fact that the story is told on first hand, makes it very interesting. Good for boys that are yet to find their way. It reveals the struggles and adventures that this great man went through. Amazing!

I'm Impressed

The book didn't fail to impress. So surprising he was given so little credit for so much work. It doesn't say in the book, but the amazing quality and quantity of his inventions, no surprise the government grabbed the contents of his lab after he passed. I like the personal touch. The human side. What drove him, how he thought, learnt got inspired. And yes, how he came up with many of the inventions and fine-tuned them. For me, it was quite inspiring. Glad I got it.

Great biography of a great person.

Any additional comments?

My first intro to Tesla was in the movie The Prestige, which I loved. I figured that wasn't the most accurate depiction of Tesla, so I sought out some books - and this one turned out to be great. Lots of detail about his early days, his motivations, and NOT just the stuff you'd find on wikipedia. Great book for a summary of Tesla's life and achievements.
A Captivating Guide...

Any additional comments?

This is a 5 star 'highlights' short story. I've read several books about the Great Inventor, and this quick read tells a good story of Tesla's early years and his rise to fame and the relationships with Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse. Incredible scientist with over 300 US patents, yet he died penniless and in obscurity.
The indomitable work of a Genius

A short and fascinating tale of one of the brightest minds in the field of electricity generation and propagation of the 20th century. The brilliant work of Tesla in the use of solar energy has been brought to fruition by Elon Musk in the Tesla electric car, truck and planned mass transit vehicle. The trials and tribulations encountered by Tesla born of the envy and greed of his comprtitors and unfavourable press their wealthy backers funded, were in the main overcome by Tesla’s persistence and self evident superior inventions. The indomitable genius of his work has been brought to fruition by the endeavours of Elon Musk as evidenced by the Tesla electric car, truck and planned mass transit vehicle. Tesla’s story, like his work, is focused and enjoyable leaving one with a feeling of triumph for a genius whose life’s work is enduring while motivating other inventors 75 years after his passing. Perhaps Tesla’s spiritual belief and experiences in far reaching communications beyond known wireless frequencies will manifest itself in futuristic scientific work yet to be published.
